My scheduler has never told me when there's any in the pipe and beta batches come and go, some announced, some not. What I do know is that the techs have the tools to point beta jobs at devices that previously had a test failure due a specific error code... begging wont work, grumping wont work... patience does, so stick around, you might get lucky!

21 Beta WU with 20 Valid and 1 still PV. Another 7.5 days done. Run on 10 different computers ranging from a single core to my quad with the rest being C2D. Never could get the bandwidth on my 3-core high enough.

again its not over till its over.... sure every work unit may have been sent out but some of those may not return. If they don't once it times out another repair WU is sent (or if an error occurs) so its not over till the last WU successfully validates. Mind you there may only be a few out there and it may be luck of the draw if you will get another

the most recent batch was sent out basically on the 21 and 22nd... repairs should show up i am guessing through the end of this month. mind you getting one of these repairs will be hard cause of the amount of computers trying to get one.
----------------------------------------it took me along time before i managed to get enough beta's to get my badge... there are small little tricks you can do to increase your chance to get them but remember everyone who really wants the beta's and has looked through the threads are also using these tricks so it wont get you ahead but it may get you in even running. i am up to 20 days 16 hours on beta.. not going to stress or such about it till i approach 40 days. once i get close to the next badge though you bet i will be using tricks and stuff to try to get just 1 more beta. Odestoteles. you may not have gotten any of the WU's cause boinc things your internet connection isn't fast enough, but don't worry cause it was only this beta set (this month) that had internet connection speeds cause of the size of the files for these beta's. I wish you luck getting beta's. |

there are small little tricks you can do to increase your chance to get them With the new rule of 1 WU per core, the list of tricks has only 2 entries in it any more: 1) request a WU when Beta are available; 2) Start the Beta WU as soon as you receive it.Mind you there may only be a few out there and it may be luck of the draw if you will get another Man is THAT an understatement. Don't let nasher get your hopes up; hoping will not help you. Maybe there will be 2000 repair jobs; who knows? Maybe there are 20,000 crunchers enrolled in the Beta program; who knows? A lot of these crunchers have a larger than average number of computers. So maybe 1 in 50 COMPUTERS will get ONE repair WU. The only key to getting beta WU is longevity; you have to be here a long while. The primary factor in getting lots of beta WU is more cores; more cores means more WU; more WU means your Farm is requesting WU more often; More often means increased probability during the intermittent time periods when there are beta WU available. A definition of insanity is waiting for Beta Wu. There have been periods of MONTHS with no Beta WU released. Longevity and more computers (with more cores). I have 798 Beta WU done and that is WAY above average. Do the math on your own statistics. Patience. Longevity. Computers |

Those are the two overriding rules - there are a few sub-rules that also help One of which I've just implemented (as I'm a WCG sole cruncher), is to set the 'Switch between applications between nnnn minutes' to 7200 - as that way, any Beta (and also repair) WU's that come in, automatically get started in High Priority mode (thanks Sek for that tip ). |

After applying a Fast Fourier Waveform analysis and running it through a Lowess smooth filter, it seems there is a pattern related to the sun and moon conjunctions ;P
----------------------------------------Jean and me and maybe Ingleside have mentioned the switch application trick to push Betas ahead, lastly not half a day ago in this thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...29850_lastpage,yes#296476. All else is voodoo, recommended for "WCG only" crunchers who do not worry about their mental state, as perceived by others ):0))))))))
