Type A work units are originally set as repair work units in the sense they only get sent to reliable hosts with the deadline already shortened to the minimum. This is to help get these work units through the buffer quicker and allow us to get to the type B and C work units faster.

Anyone have any information as to what these dg's are yet???
----------------------------------------Personally, I'm hoping that we're now eating into the original targets, having reached virtually the last of the ts's ![]() ![]() |

I've only gotten the one DG so far and it immediately errored out at the start with the same errors. Also, all wingmen that had processed it had also errored out (three wingmen as I recall and one not yet processed). Wonder if this was a build error on one of the settings they have to specify. Since it looks like some of the DG's are completing, there may be some that are unusual in some regard and hitting a limit that most are not. |

That Type A dg01 unit has just passed 50%, after 6 hours, 51 minutes. It's the only one I've had so far, so nothing to compare it to. This machine (dual Core Duo T2500 @ 2GHz) is not particularly fast.

Hopefully, with the DDDT2 scientists coming back to us and explaining that the 'dg' work is actually of the Production variety (as opposed to the 'ts' - test strings/verification WU's), rain will be an even more regular occurance that it has of late.
----------------------------------------So, I'm thinking - there's no need for huge cache's anymore ![]() ![]() |

So, I'm thinking - there's no need for huge cache's anymore I've found that a small cache (1-day) is enough to keep your machine from running dry, as long as the rain continues to fall. The huge cache will only help once the rain stops, giving you those extra days of work. The problem with that, though, is that it delays the return of results to the science team, which is contrary to the interests of the project. What would be nice is if the work was more steady and evenly distributed, so that you could enable other projects and still get DDDT2 work. I find that I have to set the profile to accept ONLY work from this project in order to get any. |

By rdmalmst DDDT Scientist: "In short “ts” is for Test Set and “dg” is for Delta G, as in Gibb’s free energy. The “dg” work are the “production” work units representing work being moved forward for phase 1 of this project in to phase 2."

Workunit dg01_ b028_ ps0000_ 2- finished in 13.43 hours and is now in PV. One wingman errored out immediately using app version 6.17. The other is in progress.
----------------------------------------(edit) I'm curious, how does the wrong app version get used? Is that due to using an old version of Boinc Manager? What's the oldest that will correctly respond to a change in app version and/or signing? (using 6.10.58 here BTW) [Edit 1 times, last edit by genes at Mar 2, 2011 9:20:41 PM] |

The prognoses for Wednesday is 28k result validations. It's not clear to me if this is a kick due the bust-up yesterday of some serious caches which then got pushed onto fast returning clients. The afternoon session could still sag. Taking yesterday's noon data, 27.5k is the probably low end total, pretty much matching wave 3's high (we're now in wave 4 since Dec.14)
------------------------------------------//-- edit: genes, there is no "wrong" app. It's only the signing key that was changed and the version 6.40 the identifier of this event across ALL WCG sciences. Some clients somehow did not take well to this key-change. They should have and from production there's barely a noticeable impact.
