One thing I noticed: These Betas have a very low Wallclock/CPU time ratio. On my two Debian 5 machines it's 60% (one even 15%). The Normal (other Beta work and normal WCG work) value is about 99% ! I changed nothing on my system or in the BOINC preferences, and the other WCG tasks still run with 99% ratio. On my ubuntu 10.04 it's a similar ratio. |

On the 8:00 hour cut-off topic, just saw a wingman with that and an interesting end suggesting that the last job is not really allowed to finish, lest I'm misreading?

I would agree with your assessment. Mine finished completely in 7.62 hours. Here's one from a wingman: Result Name: BETA_ A.19.C16H10SSe2.1.1_ 3-- [07:22:45] Qink name = scfman [Edit 1 times, last edit by pirogue at May 31, 2010 4:23:02 PM] |

How we got from 20k to 22k results... the initial -131 and 195 error replacements maybe? Clearly, brain check plus insufficient re-reading (the good number is in the quote opening my post!). |

Effective RAM use allowed is 3GB. According the TOP command the processes run at nice 19 and getting 100% most of the time. And of course the run while in use option is on, CPU time setting 100% and running the 6.10.17 kit as provided by the Synaptic Package Manager, 64 bit too.

What happens if I don't complete an WU in 8 hours?

It works in a way similar to HCMD2.
----------------------------------------The WU you're working on will either finish completely or will be returned @ the 8:00 mark. That's part of the test. Presumably, the unfinished portion will be sent out again, to be completed by another cruncher. |

Wish all weekends were that long... :-) I don't know about anyone else, but it seems to me like there are going to be quite a few higher level beta badges after this is all said and done. Another few days like the past few, and I might make it to ruby. |
