Re: Linux Only Beta Test

It looks like the number of -131 errors is decreasing (at least for me). I've only seen one in the last 20 WUs or so.

Is this a self-learning process or are the techs massaging as we go?

I can't believe how lucky I got when I chose to use linux on my newest machine. It has been churning through these Betas very nicely, 12 at a time. I think I'm going to make gold tonight or tomorrow. drooling

P.S. I'd still like to know what a Qink is.

That's better. 6 more work units, 3 valid and 3 pending validation.

piroque,

(while it is still weekend in places on the planet, it was mentioned that the program uses the Q-Chem engine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q-Chem. Then googling gives one plausible answer: http://pse.che.ntu.edu.tw/chencl/Optimization...0Exchanger%20Networks.pdf

Re: Linux Only Beta Test

Upload of BETA_A.21.C17H10OS3.2.3_1_4 (61628KB) failed repeatedly:

World Community Grid 31-05-2010 12:43:02 Temporarily failed upload of BETA_A.21.C17H10OS3.2.3_1_4: HTTP error
World Community Grid 31-05-2010 13:05:18 Temporarily failed upload of BETA_A.21.C17H10OS3.2.3_1_4: HTTP error

The total upload time of this file was 60 minutes on a 374Kbps upload connection.
The upload speed of this upload: 29Kbps.

and a 2nd HTTP-error on another result file (64255KB):

World Community Grid 31-05-2010 13:12:53 Temporarily failed upload of BETA_A.21.C17H10OS2Se.3.3_1_4: HTTP error

I noticed that the HTTP-errors occurred when the transfer was complete (100%). After the errors the transfer rate jumped back to 68%.

I have no idea how you managed to get from A to B, but thanks.

All I got when searching for qink was hits on games and ink.

Re: Linux Only Beta Test

Btw. does anyone has an idea how much of the 20.000 results mentioned earlier within this thread are already processed?
As of the latest stats update 4,502 results have been counted in the Beta project stats since this beta session has been announced.

If you want to follow the progression later, the number of returned results for Beta was 352,997 at the start of this session.

What I don't know is if there will be 22,000 jobs with two copies, i.e. 44,000 WUs, or if the announced 22,000 was already taking the 2 copies in account.

Re: Linux Only Beta Test

One thing I noticed: These Betas have a very low Wallclock/CPU time ratio. On my two Debian 5 machines it's 60% (one even 15%). The Normal (other Beta work and normal WCG work) value is about 99% !
I changed nothing on my system or in the BOINC preferences, and the other WCG tasks still run with 99% ratio.

So maybe i can't finish all of the Betas in time.
Others having the same problem ?

Another way to look at how long it will run is by name. The betas seem to be coming in order. Prefix A.21 came yesterday and A.22 are coming out now. What's the final batch?

Today I got a repair job for A20. Was it the first batch?

Re: Linux Only Beta Test

There will be a Windows version in the future. This is just an initial test on linux. There are about 20,000 results that need to be calculated on this test :)

-Uplinger

How we got from 20k to 22k results... the initial -131 and 195 error replacements maybe?

Just now got BETA_ A.22.C15H8N4S3.9.2_ 0--

Unless there are hordes of tasks waiting on wingmen or just lingering in cache queue, the tally till now (4500 validated) suggests it might take a number of days more to even get to 22k results. Not resisting to have them come one for one... 9 days from gold :D

(mind you including the upload back-offs it takes 45 minutes to upload and then another 30 minutes to get a new one, so got a healthy set of HCC jobs to make that time fruitfull)
