I just had one finish. 2:17 on a 4.0GHz i7-980x. Ah? Interesting... Nothing particular in its Result Log?Everything's alright here. The first one has just passed 25 % with 2:00:00 CPU time as expected. |

Same here.
----------------------------------------Finally the first three have finished with 2.59, 2.18 and 2.14 CPU time and Result Logs similar to yours. Fourth one still running, currently at 1:04:46 CPU time. |

Just shuffled what I received up in my queue so that they get done sooner. Will report in if there are any issues.

The timekeeping has it's learning curve. When production is running the estimated flops will get adjusted on a daily basis allowing a more accurate projection, a solito.

Why is the runtime limited?
Ubuntu 10.4 lucid lynx on old test notebook (Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83 GHz,Yonah) Only 32b because it doesn`t support 64b. Boinc WGC recommended (6.10.17) BETA_A.15.C12H9NOS.2.1 finished in 6.19 But BETA_A.17.C13H10N4.1.2 (pending validation now) : [10:35:08] Qink name = scfman Killing job because cpu time has been exceeded. Subjob start time = 378781755, Subjob current time = 1087787363 [12:14:29] Updating rkrun [12:14:29] Copying Output Files [12:14:30] Delete Scratch Dir [12:14:30] Saving State and Checkpointing [12:14:30] Finished Job #15 called boinc_finish </stderr_txt> ]]> |

Results So far 2 valid, no invalid, the rest either PV or in progress. I take it this is limited to one per core as it seems to not want to give me any extra even if there's only a couple of hours left in the buffer.

Randzo,
----------------------------------------similar to RICE and HCMD2 which have soft/hard time limits, WCG tries to constrain when possible the run times to 7-8 hours and sizes tasks accordingly, so that all hosts, large and small can participate even when it's in part-time. This is a Large Beta which will surely produce piles of statistics so the production units can be appropriately compiled without need of repackaging the remainder into a task for subsequent processing. Once upon a time in the future we'll be seeing jobs sized to the individual clients crunching skill, then they will be dynamically sized.

The timekeeping has it's learning curve. When production is running the estimated flops will get adjusted on a daily basis allowing a more accurate projection, a solito. Actually they are rather well estimated when looking at jobs waiting to start. It's just that the percentage computation seems to be based on the maximum 8-hour duration whether the task will exceed the limit or not. That should be rather easy to correct before going to production. |
