Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

Now where is the lm-sensor control hidden?
Right click on the top line (dashboard? Tableau de bord in French) and select "Add to the dashboard". You will get a list of things that you can add to this line and the frequency monitor and the sensors applet should be in that list.

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

Say Jean,

were you talking about such illuminating gems as this:

HFCC_ s2_ 01925849_ s2_ 0000_ 1-- 611 Valid 4/25/10 15:57:51 4/26/10 01:21:27 6.51 36.0 / 43.9
HFCC_ s2_ 01925849_ s2_ 0000_ 0-- 611 Valid 4/25/10 15:54:51 4/25/10 19:35:48 3.30 93.8 / 43.9 < Miei

I've found that by consistently running off-line and to never allow upload/download within the last 10 minutes of job or before the first checkpoint, credit works out about 1-2 per hour better. So this is why there's often a whole stack in the transfer tab, then a quick look if the conditions are okay, and than hit update to open the line for 5 minutes.

Back on Linux, samba smbfs smbclient and more to get this stuff to allow x-system daily backups. Feels just like 1978.

Though the Synaptic PM and Ubuntu Software Centre show it as installed, it is not listed in the Panel, but did gain the System applet and can quickly flop between conservative, performance, on demand and powersave, 32.4 and 1.6 ghz... we'll find it, but with that HFCC test, think the limit will be on just running HCC for the 2x2 throughput.

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

Well, we got the WIFI working after much reading and tweaking and swapping the N USB stick for the old G stick and forcing the 20Mhz band at 2.4 Ghz as the autoswitching was in continuous battle to switch up the speed of the N clients in the WLAN. It works and WPA2-PSK 256 bit encryption is active, but it feels like riding a tautus at about 45Mb instead of the N that gave stable 270Mb exchange speed. The sense of being back in 1978 and having to knock in every piece into it's place, HCC is running sooooo fast. THE BOINC UL/DL rating is also badly down... will that stop getting the coveted A-Type at the next shower?

Doing this because I can, the illucid Lynx will be conquered too!

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

Well, the tautus was fitted some elliptic wheels and now getting the full 54Mb that the G protocol is capable off. The N wont budge. It's seen, it connects, but the final handshake fails after minutes trying.

Tired of the 1978 command line experience, so will let it run HCC, HPF2, HCMD2 and DDDT2 when not needing to use the quad... I'll probably try Linux again when Majestic Mewer goes RC.

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

One more bash at Lucid Lynx with more weird scenes from the Linux minefield. Eventually got N working, kind off, and at 270Mb speed at that with amazing WLAN speeds and incredible short time to perform the full 256 bit encryption handshake. All working EXCEPT that any kind of web page scripting such as frames and java needs to be disabled for before web pages show, which looks warped [NoScript is good at that].

The tip-off came off this Belgian website [in English though]: http://sudosys.be/?q=D-Link_DWA_140_ubuntu, specifically running the sudo apt-get install build-essential which pulled 29Mb more files from the Distro's servers. Still looking for the RALINK 2870 drivers as those were key too to get it working on Windows 7. Regrettably the link on that web page is dead.

Mind you, one site loads most importantly... Wine HQ http://www.winehq.org/ ... delving into the VirtualBox too http://www.virtualbox.org/ for running one in the other would solve many issues such as being able to use... MS Office as OpenOffice just is not on par in the graphing department.

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

No idea why feeling a giant noob on not checking on java and seeing that pages that are allowed to use javascript not loading under 802.11N... no idea what the relation is, but according the package manager 6.20 JRE browser plug-in was not installed... not even Java itself, so www.speedtest.com wont execute to find out how fast 270MiB really is.

sick Back to the shame corner.

They could be hearing this in Texas:

Yeah-Huh

WIFI-N Speedtest:

Down: 31.98Mb
Up: 0.828Mb

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

And Bingo, the first repair job arrived... now the install is in the Reliably Rated Class [RRC] and has consecutively returned more than 76 valid results. Not difficult to think that the quickest HCC job on the quad took 58 minutes... that's 96 theoretical in 24 hours except they need to validate first. Also, whilst initially could not get above the 95% efficiency, this night 99.9% was recorded from the Windows residing BOINCTasks monitor.

Have a nice sunny day

:D

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adapt.

For everything there is an answer on the big bad google search engine [big bad as they were just found out snooping wifi for personal data whilst taking pictures for google maps] An instruction on Synaptic Package manager and BOINC install how-to for Linux 10.04:

Re: Okay, I confez, I'm not a Linux Adept.

To Read, Read, Read... To No, No No Noooo..., and then that duh: On the windows machines under the IP4v, activate under WINS the Netbios over TCP/IP and populate the lmhosts file, then read it in, sign out, sign in, and this really knocked me off my socks, having taken effort to make the Linux instance appear as were it the same as the Windows instance... all the old windows sync links came to life... the scanner, the printer, the usb stick... Samba rocks... at 270MB 802.11N

What on earth did I get myself into biggrin
