Hello,
----------------------------------------I had an error with a WinXP32 on VMware-Host (BETA_erlc_a209_pr89a1), 3 other hosts crunched this WU without error. And I have one WU (BETA_erlc_a205_pr56b0) with problems similar to the above. This WU runs on an EeePC 900A with Atom N270@1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM and Debian-32. The runtime is now at over 26h and the progress stepped some minutes ago back to 1.25% which means, that there are about 79h left ^^ These backsteps in progress occured about 4 ore 5 times yet. Same WU stands on Pending Validation for the other 2 crunchers with runtimes between 2 and 4 hours. My EeePC is at time not on network to get more beta-crunchtime - tomorrow I will allow the "Cancelled by server" ;) Then I send you the tgz of this slot-directory. Best regards prote Edit: ups, wrong thread - my error-WUs are Type C ...

Houston, we have a problem.
I am now at 2.640% at 59h24m. It reset again! I THINK I took a snapshot before it reset, though I can't be sure. Once again, no log entries. I wonder if the percentage calculation is spitting out incorrect values but the batch is progressing properly. A |

Problem: the zip file for the BOINC Data directory is 80+MB, my ISP kacks on greater than 20MB after UU encoding (this zip file comes in at 109MB). I'll need an FTP site if you want to take a look. Shoot me some mail at andreic a t chichak d o t ca.

I wonder if the percentage calculation is spitting out incorrect values but the batch is progressing properly. A Update: After watching NCIS on TV I'm back at my computer. a101_ps0000_0 is now at 50% and running -21h to go with Suse 32bit. a079_ps0000_1 a093_ps0000_2 a096_ps0000_0 a159_ps0000_2 must have had a new reset because they are all below 3%- ~84h to go with Ubuntu 64bit. The a101 did also reset several times, but now it looks good. Both are running as VMWare client. Update 2 -Feb 8: all are running- the Ubuntu WUs are now at 21% -66h to go. The Suse-WU is at 78 % -10h to go. It looks for me like a little hiccup after restarting, because now I just let them run even without a restart/suspending. @uplinger: I did only send the result.out files. If you need complete directories- let us know. [Edit 7 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Feb 8, 2010 7:11:04 AM] |

My vote is that the completion percentage is stored in a value that is overflowing. It looks like a scaled integer that is, maybe, getting up to 25.5 percent and overflowing to -1 without the sign.
Just grabbing at straws. |

andreic,
----------------------------------------You stopped your message log posting yesterday a little too short. Could you please post it again down to all the "Restarting task..." lines to allow us to see how much RAM is allowed to BOINC after applying its various parameters and also to see what are the applications running together in this machine. While you are at it, also check what is your "Leave application in memory while suspended (LAIM)" setting in your profile or in your Local Preferences if you use them. What I have in mind (but it could be completely wrong**) is something like BOINC needing more RAM than allowed and suspending application(s). And if LAIM is off then they have to restart to the last checkpoint. Read you later. Jean. Edit: ** Even if this is wrong, making sure of which possible causes can be eliminated also helps when investigating problems. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Feb 8, 2010 9:07:03 AM] |

You stopped your message log posting yesterday a little too short. Could you please post it again down to all the "Restarting task..." Edited to suit. LAIM is off. There have been various applications running together with DDDT2 beta A since two will run at a time and this has been going since 2010/02/04 @10.43h. BTW, this batch is now at 38.160% and 75h39m - only 87h to go. [Edit 2 times, last edit by andreic at Feb 8, 2010 3:48:24 PM] |

BETA_erlc_a189_ps0000_0 just went through the time vortex for the 3rd time. It was hovering in the 38.???% range for a couple of hours. I am now at 2.32% at 77h13m.
I checked with the activity monitor and I have 798MB of free RAM, 76GB of free disk, no messages in the log for the last ~2 hours. |
