Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

This disappearing North Polar Ice Cap is back again larger than the USA

http://www.ijis.iarc.uaf.edu/en/home/seaice_extent_v2_prev.htm

and earlier in the season than 2013,2012,2011,2010,2009,2007

Turns out a whole load less inexorable than previously thought

Another Samuel Clemens quote springs to mind - best not share that either

Ignorance is bliss ... to politicians

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

For those reading french here is the dismay state of the nuclear
industry in France:
Areva in the storm
the new EPR will late for at best 1 year more i.e 2017
shares of Areva have lost half value since January( fall of 15pc today) ;and the state is owner of 87pc of the capital of Areva must re-capitalize the firm ( with people income taxes)
Areva cannot deliver the new parts for EPR and the nuclear sites reaching 30years old have been extended for 10 years more in spite of all the costly repairs they need all year long.
The firm is losing foreign contracts after Fukushima.
some day lights will be off here too!

We need to build Gas Power Stations and we needed to do it 7 years ago

But when you swallow the CO2 premise hook line and sinker you paint out this option

Let's watch this

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-...e-fund-move-30759640.html

Energy Secretary Ed Davey insisted the UK has a "moral duty" to help the world's poor cope with rising temperatures as the Government unveiled a £720 million pledge to a UN climate aid fund

Rising temperatures ?

Direct from 2436 NOAA Weather Stations around the Globe updated every hour.
The average temperature taken from the Weather Stations during our previous orbit of the Sun

£720 Million is just this years annual contribution

Meanwhile our lights will go out

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

"The whole point about climate change is that, despite having been revealed by science, it is not really about science. It is about what sort of world we want to live in and what kind of future we want to create."

http://www.theguardian.com/science/2014/nov/2...ate-change-special-report

It has never been about the "Science" it has always been a political tool for a stymied future

One where we sit cold and hungry and kept literally and figuratively in the dark

"It is about what sort of world we want to live in and what kind of future we want to create"

This is why I won't shut up

We can either actively create a great future (as we are doing here on the WCG - making a positive difference)

Or

We can passively have our future decided for us (Based on what Sheldon Cooper would describe as "Hokum")

Which is it to be?
