Atmospheric Rivers
----------------------------------------Alged it makes for nice poetry but Water Vapour arriving in the prevailing South Westerly from across the Atlantic has always (while we have been in this location relative to the Gulf of Mexico) always made this a green and pleasant land with continually changing and fascinating weather Atmospheric Rivers LOL We've have had a great July in the UK with plenty of hot days but it has been rewarded with plenty of rain with thunderstorm after thunderstorm (must of been an atmospheric river caused by the extra evaporation due the heat which condensed as it rose and fell to earth as rain - one of those atmospheric rivers. Can aircraft pilots sail down an atmospheric river or do they have to go around them in case they meet an atmospheric Niagara like waterfall? ![]() The balance is always restored and always tends towards normal It bears repeating The weather always repays it's debt Dave ![]() |

Just changed all of my living room/kitchen lights over to LED's
----------------------------------------Turned 650W/hr to 52W/hr or to put it another way 12.69p/hr into 1.02p/hr The 11.67p/hr you save soon pays for them. Especially as we head back into the northern hemisphere winter. And no filament to go pop Therein lies progress to a more efficient future ![]() |

Barrel scrapings
----------------------------------------http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23538771 Is anyone ever going to stand up and say the World isn't warming as was previously claimed? Or our we going to continue to hamper our progress through an internet meme/urban myth propagated by Gore et al and parroted around the Globe as fact. When the measured reality shows otherwise. OK I'll start The World isn't warming as was previously claimed. We are not going to see a 6C, 2C, 1 1/2C or any other increase in temperature due to our CO2 emissions. If anything if the Sun continues with it's current funk the end of the Century will be cooler than the start. Dave ![]() |

Yesterday we put in 315 years worth of crunching
----------------------------------------Last year on the same date 351 years Year before that 343 years worth Something has knocked us back to October 2010 levels of output today in August 2013 despite the increasing core count - The price of Electricity and our Incomes. Imagine the progress 13140 extra days every day of number crunching would be making today in HIV and the Clean Energy Research and the difference that would make to the upcoming projects. That's all we can do ... imagine. The 8 core (32 Ghz total) has been off since 6:30. This one (6 core 18 Ghz total) will be off as soon as I have pressed "reply to post" ![]() |

There's a wonderful piece of propaganda being broadcast on BBC4 as I type
----------------------------------------They have just claimed the Arctic could be Ice free as soon as 2013 From Jaxa ![]() There's 6,892,188 km2 there today (2.2 times the size of India) This has to disappear in 6 weeks for the BBC "factual" programme to be true (typically the minimum is around the 17th September) During last week 368,125 km2 melted and the pace of melt is rapidly slowing as the daylight hours are drawing in So what are the chances of an Ice free 2013 ? The odds of me winning the lottery tonight are much better at 14 million to 1 ![]() ![]() |
