Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

As you can see an unmitigated climate disaster is unfolding what with it being just like this when I was a kid.

This is the Strid near Bolton Abbey I took last Wednesday http://www.boltonabbey.com/highlights_strid.htm

I got an unexpected windfall on scrapping my Car due to the current high metal prices so I put another £2 towards it and bought a train ticket to Ilkley (back 'ome)

From that Bolton Abbey Website

http://www.boltonabbey.com/pdf/teachers_pack_valley.pdf

This is why I don't believe Man is the primary cause of changes in the climate. I spent my childhood in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District - you just have to open your eyes to see the reality of changing climates

It is Gerald

It's Wharfedale one of my favourite of the Yorkshire Dales

http://www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/

We have

Airedale
Arkengarthdale
Barbondale
Birkdale
Bishopdale
Chapel-le-Dale
Coverdale
Dentdale
Garsdale
Langstrothdale
Littondale
Kingsdale
Malhamdale
Nidderdale
Ribblesdale
Swaledale
Wensleydale
Wharfedale

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_Dales

I grew up in fairly industrial Airedale (of Air Conditioning http://www.airedale.com and Terrier Fame http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airedale_Terrier smile) originally in Rodley by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

at least it isn't famous for Cheese like Wensleydale smile

I blame these 2

Dad is 73 !

We have never let him forget the day when he said to us as Kids "Let's go for a stroll to work off our Tea" We had just had Steak and Kidney Pie, Chips and Peas in the Cafe at Coniston by the Lake...... About 3 hours later he said "Ah look there's the top of Coniston Old Man!"

http://www.english-lake-district.info/coniston-old-man/coniston-old-man.html

A stroll LOL 2,634 feet (803 m)

The White block of stone in the picture above is a trig point http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangulation_station it's at 1290ft at the top of Beamsley Beacon - there's still no stopping him.

We don't control the Climate

This is Southern Chile's Puyehue volcano today - 3500 people evacuated.

It last erupted in 1960

n.b. 770,000 terabecquerels now from Fukushima in the first week.

Total from Chernobyl 5,200,000 terabecquerel

The real truth only drips out

Oh marvelous

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/gas/8...ills-to-rise-by-19pc.html

It's been nearly 6 months since the last increase

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfi...e-Just-say-no-thanks.html

Let's pray that the fantastically warm spring delivers a similarly warm UK winter so that we won't need our fires and central heating on 1 day in 5

"Other suppliers are widely expected to follow Scottish Power's lead over the coming weeks"

Smashing

It has taken them long enough to admit what was clear from the data (or in the case of No1 the lack of a temperature reading from the bottom of the reactor)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/08/f...uclear-plant-melt-through

nearly 3 months have passed
