UK - Stockpile the candles and make sure you have enough paraffin for the Tilly lamps

It's official (you will have to read the links)

I'm old enough to remember this - see link below - which resulted in the 3 day week

Many people suffering from cancer were unable to have deep radiation treatment. The linear accelerator at Addenbrookes' Hospital, Cambridge, was one of many out of action in the country.-- this was the only positive thing in the articles

Agreed Gerald

In years to come when our descendants look back it will be seen in the same vein as Trepanning.

Today I'm getting my new car

£1.36-9 / litre has done for me. My car is off to be recycled

Ooops there goes global warming if it was ever there before

http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/vatnajokull/

It's been burbling for a while

Get ready for all that fossil fuel not being burned in Jet Engines across Europe and beyond. That'll be what causes the cooling ;-)

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Best not put any awesome pictures on here as they are probably copyright of the Grimsvotn volcano itself wink so here's a greeny (#339999) coloured link to another webpage with the very same

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2011/05/22/iceland-volcano.html

You can go wow there rather than here

Enjoy

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hi Gerald

Whatever they say I think they will have to ground aircraft again and not just in Iceland. Take a look at this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMStcqHfwQ4

They are saying the ash is heavier and so will fall to the ground more quickly

Our metoffice is currently behind the times which is a shame (and pretty useless)

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe/volcano/iceland.html

(edit: update the Met Office is now up to speed - you can currently see why Aircraft are grounded in Scotland)
