biggrin Final Batches of CEP Phase 1 have been determined

Greetings everyone,

This post is to tell you that we have received a final estimated count of batches that are going to be run on World Community Grid. This post is to inform the members that the project will finish before the end of the year. I can't give a better estimate than that because we still have some batches to process and many things can happen between then and now. This could include the project having an increase in speed similar to the DDDT project did.

Now, you may wonder what does that mean for the phase 2 of this project. Well, we are also working on this during this time. As no dates have been set on the release we are pushing to have it completed by end of year. shhh

I will try to keep everyone informed on the progress of the remaining work units. This will probably will be sparse to begin with but as things start winding down I will post more biggrin

Thank you again to all the members who made this project happen! hugs

more than 30 days, more than likely. As I said my estimate is rough, we know the number of total batches but it depends on how fast members compute them, and others variables. So don't hold me to that if it happens sooner. But my estimates are longer than 30 days. So if you're worried about badges, I would work on them for this project :)

Happy Crunching!

The "...we still have some batches to process..." is an English type of understatement. Since CEP is bound to continue running at a low-er share, it's more than likely you'll see these messages regularly, particularly if you set CEP as the primary project.

This:

In the mix as you can see, not many units a day are released since they cause substantial server resource loads. The top day in the past 3 months showed briefly 18,000 WU's.

As soon as DDDT work is gone and my cache for DDDT is finished I will focus on CEP as well.
Probably many members will do this, so after about 5-10 days we might grab a lot of CEP workunits until it's all gone biggrin

I can only hope that it will last for at least 40 days. If not, well... crying If I shouldn't be able to reach the Sapphire badge, it better be missed by more than 20 days. Those were the days I've missed in data-in-error time, which couldn't be added to my crunching time anymore about a month ago, when CEP was strougling for a few days. thinking

Guys, the "Honor Badge" is still Gold, due to the fact that Bronze and Silver simbolize in any culture 3rd and 2nd place. The Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire badges are for Fun and for putting more gols for everybody out there. Unless you are really close to any particular badge after the Gold, you are under no "law on must having" the Sapphire Badge. It is a pleasure to crunch and to see the badges growing, but I consider that the only "must have" badge is the Gold one, as a "golden" rule.

So, in the specific case that you have Bronze or Silver, you are allowed to get nuts about getting the Gold. But the others are not "must have".

..... That again, everything I said might be bull**** ..... wink

You're absolutely right! Everything on top of Gold I consider a bonus. But if I'm that close to Sapphire, and I should miss it by 20 days or less, I'm still a bit frustrated about the fact that I've lost about 20 days in the last month. However... if I should make it to Sapphire.... the loss of those error-days are quite forgivven! biggrin wink
