Re: Final Batches of CEP Phase 1 have been determined

I'm pushing for Sapphire - I'm currently at 1 year 292 days and I'm processing about 24 days/day so I should reach it in 3 days. I already have Sapphire on DDDT so I will make a big push on FLU1 next (and then probably Rice).

I've employed the above mentioned strategy of setting it to only run CEP1 and not accept work from other projects with a cache of 2 days. This has kept all computers running CEP1 flat out.

I should have enough in my caches tomorrow so I will change my project preferences then.

Re: Final Batches of CEP Phase 1 have been determined

Well, if you want to "chase" the badges there is somewhere one brilliant stats page from Sek where the estimated ending dates/months for the projects is found clearly ( nothing else in that graph ) !

Based on that information one can always select the projects so that one maybe dont miss few days of wanted badge .. I am currently running CEP1 only and maybe the next project is Rice ..

What is the current estimate of how much longer CEP will be sending out WU with the current pace of finished WU's runnig approximately 50% of previous average? love struck love struck love struck

Probably about 60 days of work to be sent out, about up to mid october (extrapolation)

In this thread you see more details

Re: Final Batches of CEP Phase 1 have been determined

I have enough in my cache now to make my Solar Leaf background Ruby so being Emerald is out of the question given the work left, I am shutting down and let the rest of you complete this phase of the project. Happy Badge hunting! biggrin

Well it appears there are still more work units available for this project than I originally thought so I changed my mind and am going for emerald.

Re: Final Batches of CEP Phase 1 have been determined

It sounds like lots of people are interpreting this thread as indicating the project will be dead when this round of work is completed, but if I understand correctly, that's not true. It's just the final batches of Phase 1. There will be a Phase 2 that's already in development. Am I mistaken on that?

Yes, but it will be a different badge, for phase 2.

Disable temporarily Rice and focus only on CEP. You have more time for Rice. You may cancel Rice WU in your queue as well..

be very carfull when you cancle WU's.. if you cancle too many your status will be more unreliable and you will get less work units per day max.. i have even heard of people being stuck with just 1 a day ... mind you as you complete work your limit goes back up again slowly

If WCG haven't changed this particular code in their scheduling-server, the quota will increase again very fast...

The normal BOINC-quota-rules are:
1: For each task reported as error, or not reported by deadline, decrease quota with 1, but not below 1.
2: For each "success"-report, double the quota, but not above whatever project has set as max.
3: Whatever quota user currently has, is multiplied with #cpu before checks if grabbed a full daily quota or not. (if project hasn't specified otherwise, #cpu is limited to AFAIK 8).
4: #tasks downloaded is reset at midnight server-time, then it comes to reached daily quota or not.

This means, a quad, even if has quota=1, can still download 4 tasks each day. And, the second starts reporting "success" again, the quota will increase very fast. 7 "success"-results in a row is enough to give a quota of 128 task/cpu, this is more than most projects max quota.
