Personally, I've roughly calculated that I need another 27 CEP WU's to achieve Gold... unfortunately, my 2 cores are going as fast as they can - with a pretty full list of WU's awaiting processing (so, no real "wiggle factor" in being able to download many more...).
----------------------------------------So, hopefully, there'll be enough for me to reach that major milestone - after which, any WU's that I've got spare, I'll abort, and let those who are still in the hunt for CEP WU's, to process them... If I could only just reallocate them to those who are seeking either their Bronze (to signify that they've contributed to this project), or Gold (to show that they've achieved that major milestone), then I would ![]() ![]() |

In doing some thinking since the new badges came out, I agree that for the average cruncher Gold is the goal to reach for (at the same time WCG needs to make sure that there is enough both time & work units available for the person with one computer to reach gold in any given project with a little bit of focused effort). Myself, at least on the bigger projects, Ruby & perhaps Emerald should be attainable & I will be quite happy to have earned those badges. The step between Emerald & Sapphire though is an impressive one (as I've been figuring out the time needed to get my one Emerald up to Sapphire..
...) & kudos certainly go out to those that can reach it.As far as CEP1 is concerned, I think I'll just be quite happy with my Gold. This is a project that I had high hopes for as it is something that we as a people/planet are going to have a great need for in the future. Unfortunately there were too many problems with the stability of the program to constantly keep some of my limited crunching power focused here. Hopefully Phase 2 will be much better as I would love to crunch towards Emerald in that. |

Dang, I need > 45 days of work to make sapphire.
Now it's decision time, do I make a run for it or switch projects. |

You could already go for Emerald and then see if there is more info on the end date.

Emberrasingly, my quad pulled 2 days of CEP work, right when the HCMD2 jobs were going much faster for a while, so 2 days buffer became 4 days on 4 cores aka 16 core CPU days. Thus 14 CPU days can still be bridged with a few more months in this project :D
----------------------------------------Keep on crunching

I can crank out 9 CPU days to one real day so I need 2.5 days to finish emerald in DDDT (no chance at sapphire). 30 days for emerald in CEP ... 70 days should get me sapphire. Then we race for RICE ... 20 days to emerald and 61 for sapphire. All this racing about and figuring which project when for what badge is keeping this interesting. Of course DDDT2 and CEP2 will be out soon so it will be a toss up between them and finishing out badges for all the other projects.
![]() ... did we really finish DDDT early and bury RICE with results ??? Yup, we sure did ![]() |

I agee the badge part of this is great and adds another layer to the effort. Makes it challenging and fun. Hey we all know the bottom line is to contribute but the bages to me make it fun. Guess being a nerd isnt so bad after all.

Damn, I guess after this message all WU are gone? I wanted to dedicate my main mchine to The Clean Energy Project and I don't seem to be able to get any new WU.
