Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 37 smilesmile

Okay, for what looked to be a fairly quiet day, it's not been a boring one. Jonathan, thanks for letting us know about your decision. At the moment, I don't yet understand how switching teams can change the project situation. DM, is this one of your breaks from crunching? It's been a long day. Gonna sleep on this overnight. Is there anything we need to discuss as a team? Whatever the case, change is inevitable. We have folks join the team and we have folks leave the team. This is nothing new in that respect. We will go on just as we have before. In due time, we've had new and/or existing members step up. I always hate to see anyone leave and I'll always welcome them back.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 37 smilesmile

I've lost a lot of faith in WCG as they refuse to upgrade to modern technology. Give us GPU computing in WCG or I'll keep my main resources at projects that do! If Stanford can roll out a GPU client for FOLDING@HOME, why can't WCG with its IBM backing?

I suppose that I have stirred the pot and caused Jonathan to leave WCG and MOT. I truly regret that as it certainly is not the fault of WCG as they don't write the code. Nor is it the fault of MOT.

So I feel I should apologize to the team. Sorry.
crying

Now I wish I had not brought it up in the first place. Now DM as well!! I apologize again! Sorry Everyone!

RT, I see nothing that you need to apologize for, given what I know. One of the important parts of a truely great team is that folks can share their opinions and those who disagree will still respect that opinion. If a team is going to lose someone over a few words, I would have to wonder how much of a loss that really is? What you said is valid to some degree. Personally, I think it could work both ways in terms of helping and hurting. If there's going to be any blaming, then folks should blame me. That's what a team captain is for, among other things. As captain, I'm responsible for the team. If you're gonna lead, you have to accept accountability and bear the comsequences of your actions and inactions.

You are most gracious in this but it clearly is a result of my comments and I am truly sorry to see them go. I would much rather left the team myself.

Grace ain't got nuttin ta do wit it! Jonathan said absolutely nothing about you or your post. I seriously doubt that if it was a reason, he wouldn't have the balls to say so here or in an email to you or me and I ain't got one. As for DM, he's said nothing. We have no information about why in his case. In fact, he's taken breaks from the team in the past. This could easily be another one. There nothing to stop either of them from coming back either. I'll welcome anyone back to this team that wants to come back. Priority one with any fellow crunchers is to keep them crunching. Priority two is to keep them crunching with us. What we're crunching for is more important in the end than this or any team. As I said before, we've had folks leave before and we will again in the future. That's just part of the nature of any team.

I also hope that DM and JF will rejoin us in the future. They certainly will be welcomed back.

@Keith -- to answer your implied question, I think JF was talking about GPUGRID, not WCG, when he said he was moving to XtremeSystems.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 37 smilesmile

For anyone wondering about how to use all this stuff I've been posting about in your signature here, this will hopefully help. Basically, click on My Forum Profile above and then click on Change My Signature. You have a box that you define your signature in up to a max of 250 characters. This is why so many folks here use the TinyURL site. It basically takes your URL no matter how long and gives you a 25 character URL to use in its place. I believe when a browser hits the TinyURL site to resolve the URL, it gets redirected to the actual URL. The URLs of the items you want in your signature go in img tags. I've provided the actual URL and the TinyURL version in my posts. The TinyURL version is usually best to use in your forum signature as 250 characters goes fast otherwise. Hit the enter key when you want to have a new line of images. Keep in mind too that folks with small 14 or 15 inch screens will have to scroll left and right if your signature is wide enough. A good rule of thumb is to not go wider than the width of three of our Hall of Fame banners. Use the Preview button to see what your signature will actually look like before you save it. Things may not line up quite like you expect. Also, your forum signature is added to all of your posts in the forums here and when you change it, that change is reflected in all of your posts. Here's what my forum signature code looks like:

{url=tinyurl.com/btxgg}Join{/url}/{url=myonlineteam.org}Website{/url}
{img}tinyurl.com/33gn4h{/img}{img}tinyurl.com/2dhgqj{/img}{img}tinyurl.com/2a9r94{/img}
{img}tinyurl.com/6a2cx5{/img}{img}inyurl.com/r3xnde{img}{img}tinyurl.com/cxuegq{/img}

I've replaced the brackets with braces so it doesn't get translated here. Also, you'll see three lines as well due to the line breaks after the first two. Note that you don't have to type in all the various tags ( img. /img ) in. Copy the url for the image you want, then click on the Image button and paste that in to the box. It will put the tags around it. To include a link to somewhere, use the http:// button and enter the text you want displayed as the link and then the actual URL. Just type in any plain text you want. Hope this helps.....

I implied a question? Wow! Neat accomplishment at my age! laughing I do think I was curious as I was posting as Jonathan did drop from MOT at GPUGrid but not here but then most of his CPU crunching lately seems to have been at Yoyo and not here. Guess that managed to come thru in my post. Hmmm, I wonder if my brain is doing some rewiring up there? Uh oh! Don't us old folks tend to get noticeably clear-headed shortly before.....ULP!
