BOINC is not a good program Balavian, what you are seeing is a problem with a SPECIFIC PROJECT at WCG. It is MOST DEFINITELY NOT a BOINC problem. More generally, I have had a 766 complete without error now, so not even a 100% failure issue. As has been said earlier, wait for the project team to advise. I will probably be out of town for a couple of days now, hope it is all resolved when I return. In the mean time, RICE. [Edit 1 times, last edit by adrianxw at Jun 29, 2009 7:44:51 PM] |

This warrants return to Beta? The message that was apparently a response to ("apparently" because nothing was quoted and there is no real threading here visible to regular users), was itself a reply to the rather ridiculous assertion that these errors were caused by 'unsupported' versions of BOINC rather than tasks having too many results so the files grew beyond the preset limits. One silly message deserves another. (Edit - removed GPU BOINC question; asked in Agent Support) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 29, 2009 9:01:33 PM] |

This is a first for me. I got the error that says: "Computational Error" My preference actually is set to max of 35GB but is limited to 32.6 according to the below info. Any advise?

Nevada Bob,
----------------------------------------1. your errors are all the same -131, too large an output file. Plz suspend any more CEP jobs. Anything from batch 765 has a big fail rate, but you dont want to sent it to someone else by aborting just yet. 2. 35GB is not how you'd think it works. It's treated as 35,000,000,000 byte. BUT, when applying the common 1,024 per KB, you come to, yes, it's another feature from Berkeley, 32.59629 GB. All designed to give the user that homey "yes I can set & forget". All is Spock logic, probably going to make another little read FAQ for this ;>) [offtopic]Think I'm going for a trip to Miglianico and knock some dimpled balls to loose some excess 'energy'[/offtopic] cheers

Have loads of these 131 errors myself for CEP and loads in progress which have previously errored out on other peoples machines which will obviously error on mine as well at 100% with the file size limit if I let them run.
32 bit XP and BOINC 5.10.45 on both an Intel quad and AMD 64. When they error out at 100% ,they still produce a sizeable upload which looks about the same as a CEP job that would normally validate with no problems. I think they probably would validate if it was'nt for the file size limit. Dont want to mess with the values in the BOINC files and return something of unexpected size which might confuse things. Please could a tech advise what the best action is ? Is the returned work still useful although marked as "error" ? |

Ok, I resized my allowed use to 45GB. Should I allow CEP jobs?
I sized my preferences much larger than originally configured. Most likely the majority of people crunching would not have done any changes to the config file. So how would any of the general crunchers ever get a CEP result? |

Neveda Bob,
----------------------------------------The error is the file size coded limit of 150000000 or 14.x MB. Nothing to do with your disk allowance setting. Think it's still default to have 10GB, which is copious. Look on the BOINC Manager Stat disk tab pie. If you see more than a few hundred MB used, it's allot. As said many times now in this thread, suspend the jobs you have for CEP. Whl. I don't think the upload is complete. The result file with the hacked value for the 771 job I ran was bigger than the standard 4.12MB for the largest one in a result set, only just though. I'm not going to say anything further on this until a tech writes in. edit: And to top it off, the test miraculously turned valid: E000771_ 864C_ 003006400_ 1-- 632 Valid 29-6-09 06:53:23 29-6-09 16:43:37 8.60 141.1 / 134.0 < Mine E000771_ 864C_ 003006400_ 0-- 632 Valid 29-6-09 06:53:16 30-6-09 00:31:32 10.09 126.8 / 134.0 experiment resumed

I have the same issue. After finishing something like 250WU, all of a sudden almost all of my WU said the same thing. I aborted all the other CEJ WU and stopped anymore downloading to my two PCs. For now, I changed over to the CCP and I am running their WUs just fine. I hope someone can inform us when this bad batch of WUs will be passed thru the system and weeded out. I am happy running the CCP, but at some point, I want to return to cruching my CEP WUs again.
Cheers Bill |
