Re: All wu's crashing at the end.

We have cancelled E000765 through E000785 work units because of a problem of exceeding a file size. These will be rebuilt as new work units by the Harvard team to avoid this problem. Sorry for the troubles. New work units should be available now.

Thank you, Viktors, for the update. It's always nice to know what went wrong and if things--at least in theory--are back to "normal."

Credit for problem work units completed??

It dpes look like this is fixed. I returned my last CEP WU in ERROR around 2:55 UTC. Since then, no errors and I have had eight successful WU complete since then, so I will continue to process CEP.

It sure would be nice to get credit for the lost work. I lost over 4,000 points from 6/27 thru 7/1 for sticking with CEP through Errors, Too Late, and Abort.

Re: All wu's crashing at the end.

What should I do if I have units in this range and they are still in my queue? Will they be aborted by the project soon? Or do I abort them?

I'm in the same situation.

2 - 767
2 - 770
4 - 774

I don't mind aborting them, but the ones that were either running before everything blew up or came up in the queue since then have a combined 40+ hours. I don't want to abort them out of the queue if some sort of credit is going to be given for the work done on units in that range (as it should be... sad ).

On the other hand if there are good units being distributed I would like to get back to work on this project (both to get that silly gold badge & because I really like the idea behind it).

Check the results status to see if your wingmen have processed the WUs. If other copies are in Error status, abort your copy. If another copy is in PV, check that it actually completed successfully and if so, let your copy run. If the other copy hasn't reported back yet, I'd abort any WUs that are in the error range (E000765 - E000785) that have not already started.

As for WUs in the error range that are already in progress, well... you can take a chance and let them run or abort them or wait to see what happens with the other copy. Your call.

Re: All wu's crashing at the end.

I just picked up E000774_ 811C_ 00300310f_ 2-- and E000773_ 964C_ 003e0340q_ 4-- WU's that were
sent out on several hours ago. The previous computers that reported all had error reports.

1) Do you think it would be a good idea for the techs or someone else to kill these
WU's from being distributed given the widely documented issues regarding these WU's?

2) I believe I know the answer but I will inquire anyway since I am not home
to suspend these WU's. Anyway to suspend these WU's before they error out??

EDIT: No need to worry about suspending these WU's. They are now reporting the -131 error code, and being forwarded onward to another unsuspecting computer.

Thank you.

I just picked up a WU E000773. Shouldn't the system have prevented sending it out?

If it's a new WU (name ends in 0 or 1) then you are right. My guess it's more probably a re-issue of one whose earlier copies errored out (name ends in 2 - 6). It seems a few of these still haven't been killed off. Check its Results Status entry. If it's a bad one you have 3 choices:
1 - Waste your time & Dirty Energy crunching it, and then if it's not the 7th copy (name ends in 6), it will be sent on to someone else to waste their time & Dirty Energy too.
2 - Abort it now, and then if it's not the 7th copy (name ends in 6), it will be sent on to someone else to waste their time & Dirty Energy too.
3 - Keep it in suspended animation until it times out (a PITA for you), and then if it's not the 7th copy (name ends in 6), it will be sent on to someone else to waste their time & Dirty Energy too.
You choose. I thnk they should rename this project the DEP. smile

Re: All wu's crashing at the end.

Now that the problem has been resolved I think that a new topic should be posted in the forum that explains the problem and the correction rather than just leaving the resolution on page 5 of this thread.
