World Community Grid are under the impression they have fully informed everyone about this. They never said anything about the WUs that already made it out into crunchers machines would have to be completed through the full 7 fail course before they will really be dead. If you think this isn't good enough, I encourage you to send email to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and make your complaints heard. What is wrong with airing our concerns on this message board? June 27, Problem first reported June 27, Scientist says they have a fix June 27, Nothing from techs June 28, Crunchers are told to wait for a tech to respond June 28, Nothing from techs June 29, Crunchers told to freeze until hear official word. June 29, Experiment announced as sucessful (not sure what that meant at all) June 29, Nothing from techs June 30, Nothing from techs July 1, On the fifth day since first reported a tech says WUs have been cancelled and new ones should be out soon. July 2, Bad WUs still being sent out July 2, Nothing from techs July 3, Nothing from techs During the 7.5 days this problem has existed there has only been one post by a tech and that tells us everything is OK. In fact there are still bad WUs being sent out. Not good. CEP has had more than it's fair share of issues from it's inception and it's really starting to make WCG look bad as it continues sending bad science/ WUs to us from Harvard. Has WCG considered putting CEP in a perpetual state of Beta or maybe just do a quick beta for each batch before releasing it? |

Nothing wrong with that. But as you and others say and as Didactylos and me let it be guessed this has not brought us much feedback. So why not try another communication channel as Didactylos suggests? Good luck. Jean. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Jul 4, 2009 6:19:35 AM] |

If the techs refuse to take the time to respond to the community at large then why would they take the time to respond to an individual email?
Tell us there were staffing issues, ask Harvard to address the science aspect, say everyone was on vacation, tell us while it may have bothered some crunchers the actual amount of lost time was minimal at best (like the HPF2 / Vista issue) ... but to say nothing leaves the appearance that WCG doesn't care and thinks if they don't say anything, it will be just like it never happened ... until it happens again :-( |

We have cancelled E000765 through E000785 work units because of a problem of exceeding a file size. These will be rebuilt as new work units by the Harvard team to avoid this problem. Sorry for the troubles. New work units should be available now. I'm crunching CEP again. I'll be watching the numbers of the WU's though. As long as I'm not getting WU's in the quoted range, there's nothing to fear, otherwise i'll probably suspend the suspect WU and enlarge my buffer... Good Crunching and cheer up, weekend is over and someone is bound to be frustrated over not being able to fix this right away... (Good luck to the techs who have this puzzle on their plate(s)!) |
