I think I may have hooked one of these whales. I hope I get the 2-4 days of Beta time for this one. astrolab, I am quite sure you have got a real one, not one of those pseudo monsters which complete in less than 3 days. So, don't forget to modify the max_flops as described by knreed earlier in this thread, you will need it soon. I am not sure I understand your "2-4 days of Beta time". Unless you have a very very fast processor you may expect more than that. Mine has progressed a little more now: 36.798 % after 79:18:30 runtime. Expected total runtime based on the current progress speed is 243 hours. But my Q6600 is running only at 2.88 GHz. Good luck. Jean. |

I thought I read that the MaxFlops was already extended on these up to 670 hours.
----------------------------------------I believe it was on mine since I am at 81 hours/60% with no problem. [Edit 1 times, last edit by TimAndHedy at Apr 30, 2009 3:39:45 AM] |

You are right, I had forgotten. Recent copies should have a large CPU limit.
----------------------------------------Anyway, if increased twice that should not hurt, nobody has reported a looping one yet (fortunately)... Thank you for the reminder. Jean. |

Well it's finally happened. My monster WU (the one that started this Thread) completed successfully in the early hours of this morning after running for 108 elapsed hours with 61.82 CPU hours (and one day ahead of the revised completion date).
Many thanks to all for their advice and assistance. Bring on the next one please. ![]() |

after running for 108 elapsed hours with 61.82 CPU hours (and one day ahead of the revised completion date). Fine, it has gone well to the end. But ii was a baby whale: I am still watching mine which stands now at 45.182 % for 100.75 hours of runtime. Still 145 hours to go at its current crunching speed... With Boinc still "thinking" that 56 hours will be enough. Cheers. Jean. |

Did this finish? It's marked as Too Late and is no longer running.
----------------------------------------When I left for work this morning it was only at around 66% and had run for 94 hours. I believe it should have run for at least another 24 hours. I don't think it should have even been late. The due date was 5/1 but the result date is 4/30. Could that be one of those time zone things? It does appear to have messed up my estimated times for every other project. I had 4 high priority items running and it took me awhile to figure out the estimated time to completion for most of my units is 100+ hours. Hi Tim and/or Hedy,
---------------------------------------- Your Result log looks fine. Maybe the WU reached one point where it could "decide" it had enough? Have you looked at the quorum for this WU? How are your peers looking like? Regarding the estimated duration of other WUs completely messed up, that was foreseeable with such a difference between the actual runtime and what probably was the initial estimate for this WU. It will take several normal results before coming back to normal. Cheers. Jean. |

I checked the peers and there are two errors, two aborts, and one other still in progress.
Thanks |

re: BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_45_3
I have 53 hours invested in this monster, so tried to find files you mentioned to increase runtime allowed, but to no avail. Not sure if the deadline was extended for this WU since it must have downloaded after your message about extending 7 days (was gone, so have no idea when the WU was downloaded). Tried the search function and also manually searching. Any suggestions? Running a Q9300 64-bit cpu with VISTA Home 64-bit, 8GB RAM. I was just going to let it run, but current TTC is 13:32...more than when I started watching 2+ hours ago, so don't know if there is any hope of it completing. Abort vs. don't abort??? I tracked the WU for a couple of hours. Data follows. sorry it's not standardized in time increments, but after awhile decided to just record when the PROGRESS changed. Jeanne CPU TIME PROGRESS TTC TIME 50:39:00 74.920 13:29:05 11:39pm 50:04:00 74.920 13:29:05 11:40 52:42:00 74.928 13:30:13 11:43 52:43:00 74.936 13:30:17 11:45 52:46:00 74.961 13:30:06 11:49 52:47:00 74.961 13:30:27 11:52 52:48:00 74.969 13:30:20 11:53 52:49:00 74.969 13:30:39 11:55 52:05:00 74.977 13:30:38 11:57 52:51:00 74.985 13:30:39 11:59 52:53:00 75.010 13:30:15 12:01 52:54:00 75.010 13:30:33 12:03 52:55:00 75.018 13:30:00 12:05 52:56:00 75.034 13:30:23 12:07 52:57:00 75.042 13:30:31 12:09 52:58:00 75.042 13:30:38 12:11 53:00:00 75.051 13:30:31 12:13 53:02:00 75.059 13:30:47 12:15 53:04:00 75.075 13:30:49 12:19 53:12:00 75.132 13:31:10 12:36 53:15:00 75.141 13:31:24 12:39 53:16:00 75.157 13:31:12 12:41 53:18:00 75.165 13:31:21 12:44 53:20:30 75.173 13:31:34 12:47 53:21:50 75.181 13:31:21 12:50 53:23:29 75.190 13:31:45 12:53 53:25:34 75.198 13:32:01 12:56 53:26:59 75.206 13:32:03 12:58 53:28:38 75.239 13:31:12 1:01 53:30:36 75.247 13:31:23 1:04 75.263 13:30:54 1:06 53:32:12 75.279 13:30:42 1:07 53:33:55 75.288 13:30:47 1:09 53:34:58 75.296 13:30:53 1:11 53:36:31 75.304 13:31:01 1:14 53:38:07 75.312 13:31:09 1:17 53:43:15 75.337 13:31:33 1:26 |
