I've gotten a few of these "monster" WUs so it seems, but they seem to be wrapping up in just shy of 24 hours on my i7 or Core2Quad. I also got a few with the extremely short deadline, but they deadline in My Grid seems to have changed even tho BOINC still reflects it as being late, here's my listing for one of them in My Grid:
----------------------------------------BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-RADIA.clustersOccur_ 115_ 3-- Balthazar In Progress 4/25/09 22:26:28 5/2/09 22:26:28 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 In BOINC Manager it's already past due. ![]() |

Just a quick note, not sure it helps. But picked up three Beta's this evening that also fell into the 7 hour deadline issue, but all three are showing the updated time to completion of around 7 days in the websites work unit status page as reported..Thanks. :)
Work units are... BETA_CMD2_0001-1RKC_A.clustersOccur-3CC6_A.clustersOccur_13 BETA_CMD2_0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_131 BETA_CMD2_0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_70 As of now all three look to be finished around the 10 - 12 hour mark, so not the big ones. Running on a 9850x4/8g. ram GR |

Latest position is that BETA_CMD2_0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur-137_1 has been put into 'waiting to run' status (elapsed time 13.3h progress 51.2% and therefore ETC 25.9h) and replaced with BETA_CMD2_0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-PPP5A.clustersOccur-15_3 running at high priority (elapsed time 5h progress 18.4% and therefore ETC 27.2h). The 'monster' WU BETA_CMD2_0001-1RKC_A.clustersOccur-1YDI_A.clustersOccur_86_2 is still runiing at high priorty and now shows 27.2h elasped 24.7% progress and therefore ETC 110h. I'm letting it run for now.

I have aborted this job, because I estimate it will take 400 hours.
----------------------------------------A pity because this my third beta job. Task BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-SMAD4A.clustersOccur_11_3 using beta8 version 610 Proc. Time Progress Est.time BOINC 06:48:33 1,551% 37:45:23 11:48:18 2,630% 47:10:11 22:01:17 4,777% 64:30:17 ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by j.post at Apr 26, 2009 8:52:47 AM] |

Processing BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM3A.clustersOccur_4_1 Currently 10.191% after 6:40:26 Estimated 16:50:52 remaining, but simple math takes me to 52 hours remaining Xeon R5404 (2Ghz), also running another Beta (BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-VINCA.clustersOccur_5_1 21% after 2 hours, set to finish in 10) and 2 energy work units, not sure if its affecting anything at all. Update. After 22 hours and 46 minutes this unit is sitting on 55.321%. Estimate is now at 12 hours 26 minutes. It does seem to have sped up, as my extr. total time is now 41 hours (i.e. 19 hours remaining). This machine is currently also crunching 2 ceps and 1 rice. *edit* I have followed knreed's instructions, though I don't think it was necessary in my case..? I've got a monster.
----------------------------------------WU is : BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_12 It has complete 4,020 % after 7 hours and 20 minuts. That mean that it should take nearly 8 days to complet. The dead line will be over any way as it is actually 2nd of may. I hope tech will change again the dead line for that WU and i will be granted for points and run time. I'll follow the procedure given by Knreed and let the WU run as far as possible. Edited for spell checking. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by boulmontjj at Apr 27, 2009 6:50:33 PM] |

The problem may or may not be related to a specific family of WU
BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-SOS1A.clustersOccur_ 22_ 0-- Valid 25/04/09 03:48:54 26/04/09 09:12:52 16.05 190.1 / 179.1 BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-RADIA.clustersOccur_ 138_ 2-- Valid 25/04/09 01:25:10 25/04/09 13:10:05 6.39 82.3 / 86.8 BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-Q01105-2A.clustersOccur_ 0_ 1-- Valid 22/04/09 18:54:29 23/04/09 13:14:40 7.56 117.7 / 117.6 I think my monster WU is (projected at over 36 hours): BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-1RKC_ A.clustersOccur-2O72_ A.clustersOccur_ 11_ 2-- Probe In Progress 24/04/09 17:20:59 01/05/09 17:20:59 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 |

I have one of these monsters as well: BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_31
At exactly 24 hours it was 13.95% completed, which projects out to 7 days 4 hours. This is on a Q9450 processor at 2.66 GHz. I have followed knreed's instructions, so I will let it run pending further advice to the contrary. Steve |

And i never find the client_state.xml on my Vista buissenes maschine You should be able to find your folder name by looking in the Messages Tab on the client. A few lines down from the top, there should be a Data Directory line. For my Vista Business machine it is: 4/17/2009 1:10:53 AM||Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC I found my client_state.xml file in this folder. Hope this helps you find it. |
