Hi Mathilde2006! The only thing which is certain about your WU is that you can definitely ignore what Boinc has to say about time to completion for this WU! As you said it started on a 100 hours basis, but progress between 2 and 3 hours makes me think that you might be gone for much longer, say around 200 hours, like many others in this thread. Keep an eye on it if you want to know where you are going, and consider only the progress speed if you want your forecast to be close to reality. Cheers. Jean. Thanks. I assume, it's a second hand Beta-WU ,because another WU timed out with 'no reply' just one hour before I got my 'little baby'. The "fpops bound" are by design 8,000,000,000,000,000. Indeed the 'speed' is now slower- after 15 hours are 10.6 % finished. So I think, that I'll need more, than the given return time of 5 days. Can someone give me more time? ![]() ![]() |

So I think, that I'll need more, than the given return time of 5 days. Can someone give me more time? ![]() I am not sure this is something which matters for the techs. I have warned knreed by mail several days ago that I would need 5 more days to complete mine and "my" deadline was still set to this morning. Maybe he is also testing some features in the servers for stopping or not the redistribution of these big monsters? Dunno... Jean. |

JmBoullier,
----------------------------------------My own monster is going much like your second one and I am still on a 235-240 hours basis for total runtime, i.e. more or less 10 days! My job is already shown as "no reply" on the website together with another one. Two more copies have been sent and another one will be sent this afternoon probably. Like you I wonder if these extra copies should have been avoided? 1. Mine is still in the same range(235-240 hrs). 2. The techs could tell us when they've got enough results, so that we can choose to run or abort current WUs. Pete ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! |

Of course I hope they will tell us if they no longer need them, but that will be useful only for those of us who read this forum frequently. For others that could well be 10 days of runtime for nothing.
----------------------------------------Also my frustration about these premature resents is that they are totally not justified. Unlike "normal" No Reply WUs "ours" are not WUs which must be considered as lost, they are WUs which had no chance of being completed at the given date, even by the most outrageously overclocked machines, therefore that does not make sense. Either you leave enough time for the job before resending, or you distribute 3 more copies from the beginning if you really want to have six. Not mentioning that those 3 repair WUs with even shorter deadlines might trigger 3 more ones before we return ours! I don't like that at all. Cheers. Jean. |

HI Jean,
----------------------------------------I fully understand the frustration by crunching such WUs. I can remember that I experienced something similar at the end of the first HCMD phase with some very long WUs (over 200 hours). Think positive ! You will earn your gold Beta very quickly ![]() Cheers, Yves |

Hi Yves,
----------------------------------------I am not frustrated for my own WU, it is an original distribution and it will be returned before the repair ones. It is for these repair WUs which will most probably not be useful that I am unhappy. A WU of a few hours for nothing, well, it's OK. But a WU of several days for nothing I think it is a little silly. No problem either for credits: I am confident that all these WUs will get them, but still... Cheers. Jean. PS: And in case you look at BoincStats tonight, I am still in the team. I have made some testing with a test team this afternoon and BoincStats has pulled its daily extract just while I was "absent". ![]() |

I noticed today that the due date for my monster beta work unit got moved out 6 days. This should allow me to complete before the due date unless it really slows down at the end.
Apparently the techs are moving due dates to about 13 days on these big work units. Steve |

Unfortunately no such luck for me.
I am running BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_ 19_ 3-- . I received it 27th April and its been reassigned to 3 other machines after both I and the other machine to which this work unit was allocated both failed to reply by 1st May. As a consequence this very large work unit is now being worked on by 6 machines simultaneously. As of time of writing this post this enormous aforementioned Beta work unit has been running on one of my processors for 144 hours now but is only 80% complete, although I have allowed this to run 24 hours per day. It was due back 1st May. Its now 3rd of May. Assuming a constant processing rate I don't think this will be complete until some time May 5th. |

Hello everybody,
----------------------------------------I have got 2 monster béta WU that are finishing and should normally complete today or may be tomorow. The problem is that i am on holliday and i can’t monitor these 2 WU as their are running at home. I asked my daughter to monitor them and validate them as soon as there are complete I made the change that Kneerd asked on one of these 2 WU but not on the other . BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_15 is still running BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_12 is “non concluant” after 114 hours ! I hope there will be usefull for scientists. |

WUs completing close to their deadline are reported immediately after uploading by the Boinc client. I presume it will be the same for a WU completing after its deadline, but since that will be my first one I cannot be certain.
---------------------------------------- Mine should finish on May 6 in the morning, 4 days after its current (not yet extended ) deadline...Cheers. Jean. |
