Hi All,
----------------------------------------I've got this one:- BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_ 19_ 2 It's been running for 32hrs 13.5% done. I upped the rsc_fpops_bound as per instructions. I'm hoping that it'll go the full 10 days. Pete ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! |

Question, when we follow the procedure, does the "Time due" should change or not ?
----------------------------------------Is there a risk that BOINC consider it's to late and kill itself the WU ? |

For a better understanding of the difficulty of predicting the size of these WUs please see this post by gemineo in the "2nd round of CMD Beta" thread.
----------------------------------------I have asked Michaël to follow this thread to see how things are going here with our monster WUs. Cheers. Jean. |

To those of you who have decided to keep their monsters running:
----------------------------------------Do not rely on a single measurement if you want to estimate how long your WU will take. Because they seem to run much faster at the beginning a single extrapolation from runtime and percentage already done can still be much below reality. Do at least two measurements and compute at which speed the percentage has increased between those two measurements. Then use the result to estimate how long the percents to go will need. For example if you have 21.5 hours for 14 % and 24 hours for 15 % a simple extrapolation for each of these measurements gives you a total runtime of 153.57 hours for the first one and 160 hours for the second. But using the progress speed of 0.4 % per hour measured during this interval you see that you will need 212.5 hours to reach 100 % for a total runtime of 236.5 hours, which makes a difference with the 160 hours given by the linear extrapolation. Happy and patient crunching. Jean. |

How linear is the progression of these large units.
The one I am working on is about 13 hours and about 10%. I believe it has slowed down a bit so I am looking at around 150 hours. Is there are even chance of it slowing or speeding up or is that what you are trying to learn? I don't mind running it if it's useful, even if it does eventually fail. |

How linear is the progression of these large units. Mine has gone to 6 % at an average speed of 2.4 % per hour. But since then the speed is oscillating between 0.4 and 0.46 % per hour, but most frequently 0.43 %/h and it is currently showing 16.646 % after 29.67 hours of runtime. Obviously I hope that the speed increases sometime but I am not too hopeful except maybe for the last percents of the process. Cheers. Jean. |

We could turn this into a competition, can anyone beat
Elapsed time - 44hr, complete 5.164% Time remaining 52hr 30 min (you believe that you'll believe anything) I'm going to leave this running with the change to client_state.xml until it collapses or the techs tell us to kill it. Running on Windows server 2003 R2 on a intel Xeon 3.2 quad core |

It looks like a WU from Climateprediction that use to run for 700, 800 hours or more. Mine should end quicker than your's. |
