knreed <snip>.. Open your client_state.xml file. It will be located at either C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC or C:\Program Files\BOINC (on Windows)...<snip> I tried looking for the .xml files and since BOINC was saved outside of Program Files [C:BOINC] on Vista, I do not see any .xml files at all. Anything I can do to fix that? Thanks! edit: running v 6.2.28 . On Vista, the default data-directory is C:\ProgramData\BOINC but please note that ProgramData is hidden, so won't normally show-up if you've not turned-on to show hidden folders and files. But, even if programdata is still hidden, you can still use notepad and in the open-dialogue type-in c:\programdata\boinc\client_state.xml ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

This thread has been about-
----------------------------------------BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_ 45_ 0-- I received this on the 25th and it has been running for 79 hours to achieve 34.4%, I noticed that I have picked up a couple of new betas for CMD2 mostly- CMD2_ 0001-GPDAA.clustersOccur-RBTN2A.clustersOccur_ 25_ 2-- While I'm quite happy to leave the original monster crunching for the rest of next month if it is useful the question becomes is it still useful? Or is this new beta release the next progression in the test cycle making the monster redundant? Enquiring minds NEED to know! Ok, maybe they would just like to know. please [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 29, 2009 9:12:13 AM] |

Thanks! edit: running v 6.2.28 . Diana, Your Boinc Data directory is the easiest thing to find in your machine since Boinc itself is telling you where it is. Look at the start of your message log and you will find a line like that: "28/04/2009 16:17:23||Data directory: C:\WCG\BOINC-Data" The xml files you are looking for are where your own Boinc says in that line. Jean. |

Ok, maybe they would just like to know. please Leewok, The techs and the project scientists need these beta WUs, the extremely long ones as well as the extremely short ones, because they seem to have some difficulty for chopping the production ones at the size they want. If we want to have future production WUs as consistent as possible regarding their size I think we must provide these people with as much beta results as we can. Cheers. Jean. |

From my earlier post:
...Based on it's current time spent (17:31h and 27.53%done), it will take 63.6 total hours to complete. It's running on a P4 HT against a Rice WU. Well, I stopped the Rice WU so the Beta could run alone and bumped the Use At Most CPU % up by 5%. Figured that would allow it to finish in less clock time (as opposed to CPU time). I also added the extra zero in the .xml file per advice from knreed. The Beta WU finally finished after 89.26 hrs and it validated OK. BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_ 84_ 2-- Valid 4/24/09 20:33:29 4/29/09 10:46:23 89.26 815.0 / 818.3 BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_ 84_ 1-- In Progress 4/24/09 20:33:23 5/1/09 20:33:23 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 BETA_ CMD2_ 0001-DHRS3.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_ 84_ 0-- Valid 4/24/09 20:33:01 4/26/09 19:17:23 41.10 821.6 / 818.3 |

I think I may have hooked one of these whales. I hope I get the 2-4 days of Beta time for this one.

Please allow BETA work units to run to the end. The new beta is to double check we can create production work units that do not create large monster work units as many are seeing. As knreed has mentioned before we are working on a long term solution but the second beta is to make sure we can go to production with short work units. There is not time table for a long term solution yet...but when we have one, there will need to be another round of beta testing on it. More chances to get beta badges :) But, We thank everyone for their help on the BETA's and World Community Grid! -Uplinger |
