----------------------------------------I am one of the three so far that have returned results for BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_15 Initially I wasn't particularly worried even though the speed of progress was slow. I went to bed with the result being about 40-ish% with 35+ hours already clocked. At this time, it looked as if the workunit would complete 6-ish hours after the report deadline. I awoke this morning to find my machine (same as yours Quad core 6600 with 4x1GB memory running WinXP) had rebooted. Not sure if the module had caused this, but nothing major was concurrently running. (I run WCG 24/7 in idle time so the CPU is always 100%) After reboot, the module appeared to start again from the start (THIS IS THE SAME FOR ALL THREE RESULTS SO FAR RETURNED, AND ALL HAVE ERRORED AND APPEAR TO HAVE RESTARTED) I am surprised to see the same result on three different machines with similar error logs and long processing times. Processing BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM3A.clustersOccur_4_1 Currently 10.191% after 6:40:26 Estimated 16:50:52 remaining, but simple math takes me to 52 hours remaining Xeon R5404 (2Ghz), also running another Beta (BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-VINCA.clustersOccur_5_1 21% after 2 hours, set to finish in 10) and 2 energy work units, not sure if its affecting anything at all. Update. After 22 hours and 46 minutes this unit is sitting on 55.321%. Estimate is now at 12 hours 26 minutes. It does seem to have sped up, as my extr. total time is now 41 hours (i.e. 19 hours remaining). This machine is currently also crunching 2 ceps and 1 rice. *edit* I have followed knreed's instructions, though I don't think it was necessary in my case..? Update 3: 51 hours 48 minutes and 52 seconds in 79.379% done BOINC says 11 hours 9 minutes 22 seconds remaining My guess is around 13 and a half hours *edit* Hmm, that means its taken 29 hours to do 24%! Projection Update for WU BETA_CMD2_0001-PP1BA.clustersOccur-TPM1A.clustersOccur_31
----------------------------------------Yesterday I reported that after 24 hours and 13.949% completed, a linear extrapolation gave an estimated total run time of 172.06 hours. Now after 48 hours, it has completed 28.936%. A linear extrapolation from this point gives a new estimated total run time of 165.88 hours. Note that the rate of progress increased for the second 24 hour period. Using this rate gives an estimated total run time of 161.80 hours. I don't know what conclusions, if any, can be derived from this data. Edit: Corrected a small error in the third projection. Just saw that mine one, despite of finished in error, got credits. See knreed's post earlier in this thread He explains that he will do everything possible to make sure these beta WUs are all getting credits for the time spent. I have even seen that one peer for my monster one has got full credit after aborting his copy after almost 21 hours. So, no reason to worry. Let's keep beta testing. Jean.  |

three have been awarded their claimed BOINC credit in full. Even though the logs begin with INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning., I watched mine apparently rebuild at a much faster rate than it had done the day before. Starting at 0%, I estimated a steady progress rate of 0.008% per second. In fact this is the first time I have seen one of these BETAs increase in progress with anything like the steady kind of progress we are used to seeing in other units. I'm convinced it was rebuilding previous data rather than making new calculations. I hadn't changed the XML as hinted at in the workaround. I just wanted to see what would happen. Unfortunately when I checked it later, the WU had been automaticly aborted BEFORE THE REPORT DEADLINE!. As shown at the beginning of each of these logs they have all aborted when reaching the CPU limit, i.e. the max_flops mentioned in knreed's trick that you say you have not applied. Nothing to do with the deadline which was still far from being reached. GIBA has reported a similar case a little before you and there might be several other ones as I don't imagine that everybody with such WUs has seen knreed's post. They are probably showing different runtimes because the time corresponding to this maximum number of floating point operations depends on the effective speed of the machine which runs it. It's good to know that all these WUs are credited their runtime as promised. Cheers. Jean. |
