Re: Beta Test Clean Energy Type A / B version 6.29

Stock speed Q6600, so wonder if you're on XP or Vista and what clock to get them to finish in 9.25 / 9.5 hours, concurrently.

XP32 and 20 % OC. But the latter is meaningful only for the absolute duration, it is not for Boinc's overestimating these WUs based on days of regular DDDT crunching in the same conditions

It seems that Vista is really causing trouble in this exercise: without the overclocking these WUs should last about 12 hours, not 15?

Also two of my WUs pending validation have their peer which errored at the end (according to their runtime), one type A and one type B.
And the quad is currently crunching two repair type A which have failed after about 7 hours originally. I will know later if they were just other Vista failures or if they fail whatever the OS. confused

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Beta Test Clean Energy Type A / B version 6.29

Hi Van,

Logs 2 & 3 are indicative of a result that will validate, log 1 is definitely not what we all and the techs in particular had hoped not to see again. Let's see and tell us if it get the 'invalid', which it really is.

Mind you, I guess to know why you have 6.4.5. No 6.4 release I've ever touched. Since 6.2, I've only entered the testing battle again from 6.6.9 and meantime withing weeks we've come to 6.6.15, on windows. Finally it's remembering the windows location and size across sessions as one of the very overdue fixes :D

Re: Beta Test Clean Energy Type A / B version 6.29

Gerard, did you tell us which BOINC version and how installed? There is a kill timer fix to allow BOINC to close with enough time AND you can stop this auto-update booting, so you have full control of the closing procedure.

Sek, i do not know BOINC version by heart (currently not in reach of that machine).

Its a core duo - luckily not the I7 - with vista home on it. Will check tonite on the settings.

Cheers,

Gerard

There definitely were Linux WUs. However, all the ones I've obtained are type A. Has anyone seen a type B for linux?

6.4.5 is the recommended version for linux x64 machines.

Yes Kremmen. I got a few Beta type A and type B on a Linux machine (Q9450, 8GB RAM, Ubuntu Hardy 64bit). Type A is longer and so far I have one error (posted above). Type B is faster and so far has been running and validating without a problem.

EDIT:

Make that three errors in total for type A:

Incredible enough, yes! I think it is the first time I can trace WUs between members!
The good news for me is that, theoretically, there is no visible reason** why they should no reach a successful completion. smile
Currently they are a little above 50 % with 5 hours and 40 minutes of runtime (slightly longer than my previous ones).

Cheers. Jean.

** And no MS reason either: I have MS Windows Update set as "download and ask" and I always update in controlled mode. I am not too sure that the automatic reboot of MS Windows Update always follows the rules of good behavior.
