Another error Seems the only beta's out there are resends of wu's that keep errorring with everyone. Not the only ones. I picked up one a couple of hours ago which one machine ran a decent length (inconclusive) and one bombed out (error) at about half that length. My deadline of 29 hours, 40 mins from sending is slightly unachievable (expected completion is 31.9 hours). Even the original deadlines given to the original WUs would have been made easily. EDIT: None of this matters. It bombed on my machine too.... [ERROR] Failed to open either source or destination files while copying wcgrestart.rst to ../../projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/BETA_E000338_075A_00251100n_2_3. Error: 2 So, there should be a spike of good WUs exactly 4 days after the original batch, when various machines are found not to have completed on time. (... even if they are about to soon.) The beta's you are crunching now are the repair ones of the beta's from a couple of days ago. Some of them were not returned in time, were inconclusive or errored out and then a new copy is sent out in order to get usable results for that WU. The chance that such a WU fails can be higher, but that depends on several things.

My first two beta's went fine, finished in 11 and 14 hours.

I just picked up a couple of Beta that have previously errored out multiple times. So is it worth letting them run or should I just abort them?

It can be however that is will not error-out. I've seen WU's that were finished correctly on Windows while errored-out on Linux for instance. So it's up to you. |

The purpose of Beta is to find out what works and what does not. Even from errors we learn... could be the last bit of information pointing at a particular OS/CPU/RAM/Client Version combo. thanks

With the crunchers being awarded points even if the Beta errors out, everyone really needs to let all the Betas run and hope that by our beta testing, the Techs and Scientists can figure out how to prevent the errors from reoccurring.

With the crunchers being awarded points even if the Beta errors out If that were ever to happen, that would be great. I've never experienced it, so I believe the conclusion from this premise is flawed. |

When additional credits are awarded, the work unit status (including granted credit) is not updated.
