Here are some result of work units I've returned so far. 10 valid, 7 pending validation, 0 errors, 0 invalid, 0 inconclusive.
----------------------------------------GOOD JOB WCG techs! ![]() Most of the above were crunched on XP Pro 32 bit but I do have one pending validation (and two in progress) that was crunched on Vista 32 bit. Unfortunately I have my 64 bit Vista computer "loaned out" (it's on someone else's account) and it's not checked to get Betas right now. Hopefully someone with 64 bit Vista (and other 64 bit operating systems) did get some Betas so that the techs will be able to see how the project runs on that OS. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David_L6 at Mar 7, 2009 10:00:02 PM] |

My Betas ran very well with 40/42 Valid with 1 Invalid and 1 Too Late (here's hoping). Combination of XP32 (Single and Duo) and Vista32 (duo and Tri)

Good! I'm glad someone with Vista 64 got some Betas. That OS sometimes has problems with some work units. For the most part though it's pretty good.

I would certainly like to know how to get any of the Betas to my computer to run and to test with. The information on my grid says the Betas take precedence over anything and yet I have received none. Does anyone have any ideas about this? All of my profiles are marked to participate in Betas. I now believe it's just down to pure luck... you've (or rather, your computer) has to be in the right place at the right time... i.e., it's got to be requesting more WU's when there's some in the Beta 'hopper' - which, of course, won't happen if your cache is set to (say) 1 days work and you've got over 1 days worth of work sitting, waiting to process, and secondly, that the type of Beta's to be tested match your computer platform... Also, you've got to consider the odds - there's many thousands of WU's sent out on any particular day, and only a fraction will be Beta's (that is, when there's even some waiting to be sent out - which isn't an everyday occurrance). At one point, I, and many others, fell into the trap of believing that your computer had to be on the 'reliable/quick turnaround' list, although that's apparently not true... ![]() |

I am sure it has to be more than luck with both computers running 24 hours a day and the number of results increasing as they should. I am just wondering if there might be something else needed to getting Betas sent my
way. |

I am just wondering if there might be something else needed to getting Betas sent my way. Requesting for work while there are beta work units in the hopper is all I did, and that gave me 5 beta's to chew on. My buffer is between 1 & 2 days. 4 valid. 1 pending validation.
