Kevin, I think the only way to settle this is to extract SolarPowered's device statistics and do the mathematics for him.

SolarPowered, the numbers in the client do not exactly match the "per day" statistics shown elsewhere. At the end of the day, WCG and the stats sites calculate exact totals for the day. The numbers shown on the client are "live" - they represent whatever the state was the last time the client communicated with the server.
You are comparing apples with oranges. Or, to put it using a more apt metaphor, you are comparing your bank balance on some random day of the year with your final tax figures. Please ask for clarification if I confused you with this explanation. Please don't SHOUT. Thank you. |

heres mine again... ...... Total points.....total awarded ..shown on client....points as shown on wcg site. 2/19 52784.51 ..... 2/19 1,205 (awarded) 2/20 52831.43 ..... 2/20 1,251 2/21 52893.98 ..... 2/21 497 2/22 53128.58 ..... 2/22 460 4 days=344.07 4 days=3143 2/19 52784.51+1205 should = 53989.51 without /7 .... since they appear to /7 they should post it... So I recalcualte with (1205/7=172.14) 2/19 52784.51+172.14 should = 52959.65 for 2/20 On this one day I'm off by 128.22 ( 52959.65-52831.43) I disagree. It is clear to me that you are confusing BOINC credits with WCG points. I got sneaky and pulled your data from BOINCStat. Please keep in mind that these are strictly BOINC credits and has nothing to do with WCG points. 2/26 - 53621 - you earned 76 - total may include what you earned plus the 76 you earned yesterday. Working backwards... 2/25 - 53545 - earned 418 2/24 - 53308 - earned 237 2/23 - 53242 - earned 66 2/22 - 53171 - earned 497 2/21 - 53100 - earned 71 2/20 - 52922 - earned 178 2/19 - 52653 - earned 269 As I said totals may be off a bit since results from midnight - but you can see my results are very close to yours. You lost nothing, you gained only what you earned and exactly what has been credited. If you take these BOINC credits you earned each day and multiply by 7, that is how much WCG points you earned each day. Please carefully follow the Community Advisers' instructions and you will see that the math do actually add up. If you look at all devices, the sum of your BOINC devices (there may be only one) - should be approximately 7 times what you see in your BOINC client (53621) in this case 375347. |

I know the total contains points before boinc and those may not have been calculated the same.... I'm trying to take that into account.... if I only knew how many points I got before before Boinc.. maybe that would clear it up. SolarPowered, Please don't moan, read! I have given you this number of points that you earned before Boinc, in my post dated Feb 26, 2009 3:51:46 PM. It is the number which appears in bold in the following quote: So, if you look at your "Stats by device" page. as I said you should find one line corresponding to a UD device with a total of about 680,176 - 375,529 = 304,647 WCG points (if you have several UD devices their total should be close to that). Please click on the link given in this quote to your device statistics page and check for yourself the line(s) with the "United Devices" logo. Good luck! Jean. |

UNTIL THEY MAKE THE NUMBER OF POINTS AWARDED TO BE THE SAME AS THE NUMBER CREDITED I AM QUITTING-switching to folding at home.. AFTER YEARS OF CRUNCHING for WCG! You look to be a bad-tempered cruncher.... Points are a game, nothing else. The important is the help we can (modestly) bring to important researches... The subject is serious, far away from our litte ego... Keep your rocket in your pocket, mate... |

Personally,
I'd be much happier if WCG just assigned random points... even negative points... but on a haphazard random means. Let me see; 1). I can't use the points to measure how effective my machine is (WGC quits sending data periodically and screws up any computations) 2). These points are about as useful as "S&H Green Stamps" (for those of you who don't know what these are, a long time ago, people got these stamps for buying goods at stores and they could trade in stamps for "gifts", kind of like frequent air line miles these days. BTW; S&H Green stamps went the way of the do-do bird a long time ago. 3). I can't effectively compare my machine against any other machines in the same class, WCG claims it exposes other peoples privacy, HOG WASH. 4). I can't trade in my WCG points for electricity discounts 5). I don't bother to really watch my system; it's up 24x7 and I figure if I'm not using it; then let it try to give something back to humanity (or is that Big Pharma... I ferget these days) So please WCG; please just ditch the points system and just start assigning random values for points, it would be equally as effective as what is being done today! ![]() |

Hi Barney. Please direct your complaints to Berkeley.
Note also that there is a preference that lets you unmask your host information. I have never tried it, but then - I value my privacy. |

Is this still going on? When did points become a matter of life and death anyway?
---------------------------------------- Not long ago, Scribe didn't say... Solar Not Powered said I'll wait 3 days before deleting Boinc and going with folding..., to give WCG time to PROPERLY address and FIX or state their fixing the problem. **edited for intolerance**tkh Oh, no fun TKH I wish I could catch some of Scribe's posts before they get edited... I suspect he's only saying what many of us are thinking ![]() ***edited for smilies***gordoma ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by gordoma at Mar 2, 2009 4:31:54 PM] |
