Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

I use my phone as well when I'm out, but only for short messages
such as 4 letter words and SMS
- texting you call it, I think?
Never the 'middle way' between the laptop and the phone.
Perhaps a possibility.
Do they crunch as well?
When iPads are non-Apple versions, they are tablets, right?

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

So good to see conversation on the board again. It's been a rather dry spell. Had no idea JP passed, His absence from his team is what prompted me to return to Team Edwardians. I noticed he'd been absent from Facebook as well but just chalked it up to lack of a PC or time.
It's always sad to lose a teammate/friend and/or fellow cruncher.
Anyone wants to find me on Facebook, just drop me an email.

Y'all have a great day. I'm off to work on my wifes new office and run a CAT6 line for the Alzheimer's groups new smart TV (we donate office space to them)

It takes two to tango, acpartsman, and I'm afraid it takes someone as curious and talkative as me to more or less force somebody onto the dance floor. blushing
Well, I cannot say how many fled in horror, but so far you, densnaps, and Guitar Man have come out of hiding.
Not bad.

biggrin Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

biggrin Not really hiding just needed a reason to start checking the boards again on a daily basis. Of course the time difference usually means we catch each other one day to the next, but at least we're all here together. hugs
Well, off to work I go. Officially we're closed but yours truly is stuck working my entire holiday vacation because we moved and as parts manager it's up to me to get the inventory moved and rearranged before we re-open Tuesday. At least I'm not missing time with the missus as she's at work too.

Have a great day gang. cool

Oh, working together on your common cause, acpartsman, so nice smile
Did you move within the same area to a better/larger, better/smaller building?

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Both moves, wife's office (www.hilltaxservice.com) and where I work (www.anglerschoicemarine.com) were local and to better & larger facilities although the parts dept. has about 1/4 the square footage I had at the old building. Calls for major rearranging and needless to say some things parts won't be making the move.
So it's been work on my move during the day then off to Brenda's office to work on finishing up that move in the evening. Then home to fall asleep in the recliner. It's only been 4 years since we bought her main office building in Stuart and I found out real quick those 4 years have taken a toll on this old country boy. Can't go like I used too. And now the cold weather has set in and that doesn't help either.
Well, it's that time again. Off to work I go. TTYL

Hope everyone has a great day. cool

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Small wonder that you get tired. Unusual chores drain juniors and seniors alike, acpartsman. I look forward to studying your business links.

It must be hard to decide what yo have to leave behind - or do you have the experience of what is lesser sought for by your customers so you can discontinue that in good conscience?

Yes, I hear it's very cold all along the east coast. I remember one year going from Rhode Island to Texas just around this time - must have been 1989/1990 when it was very cold too. The banana plants in southern Alabama had collapsed, probably never to live again.

Wishing you and missus a Happy New Year should we not meet until next year.
I am very pleased to have made the aquaintance with you acpartsman

Yes, been here for 12 years so I know what I can leave behind. But you can bet I'll have to go back at least twice a month because all of a sudden someone will want something I left behind.

Happy New Year to you as well. Hope everyone has a safe and happy one.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Nice businesses you have the two of you smile
For some reason I had imagined that the 'parts' part was car parts, but now I see it's outdoors recreation on a broad scale.
Do you carry accessories as well? Fishing gear, rain gear? camping supplies?
I always wondered about how a tax return preparation business would even out the workload over an entire year. One would think that close to the due date (14th of April as far as I recall) would be very busy. What kind of tax work is done for the rest of the year?

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Angler's does carry accessories although we've let our selection dwindle in preparation for the move, now waiting on new inventory to arrive. Campers are new to us but I think they will do well, I think they will pull in more local business (within 200 miles). The majority of our boat sales are not local, in fact in recent years we've shipped boats as far away as Australia and Czech Republic.
I have worked in car parts before as well, 10+ years with AutoZone and 3 with O'Reilly. I've had enough of corporate America, some jerk sitting in an office in Memphis or Springfield telling me how to do things here and he's never been here. They always try to compare us with cities 4 times our size with 1/2 our competition and 10 times our median income.
Tax business actually peaks around the end of February till mid March. There is a spike towards the April 15th deadline but nothing like mid-season. Year round business (bookkeeping, payroll etc) keeps things chugging along the rest of the year and both Brenda and Jessica are working on becoming CPA's. Our goal is to get enough year round business that we can all quit our other jobs. biggrin
