So sad, Guitar Man. Merle seemed a bit unwell,
whereas Ted's head was fine. I thought he rather had heart problems, but then again, it's a long time ago. How about yourself? And Sue? How is your health? Do you still have a band? Great to dance to I almost cannot believe that Rosie and I cruised those dark crooked, narrow Dorset backroads in the wrong side of the road seen from my point of view ![]() to a 'social club' - where I have forgotten. But you played with Backbeat, and we all danced. And I won in the - wasn't it called 'sweepstakes'? - a bottle of rhum ![]() Do you remember where it was? |

I can't for the life of me remember where it was. I left the band a while ago, as I had to spend 3 weeks in hospital because I had Pyoderma Gangrenosum It ws only 3 weeks in hospital, and it wasn't as bad as hat photo, but it did take me over a year for it to clear up.I hen had a total left knee replacement....which got infected, after which I had a stroke. I am now officially disabled .....My left leg hardly works at all, I have to use 2 sticks and a mobility scooter to get around. but hey ho, I'm still here, and I still play the guitar. Sue has taken early retirement from the NHS, and suffers a lot from depression, and we've moved to a bungalow due to the fact that I can't do stairs very easily. So all's well this end ![]() |

Small wonder you don't recall where you performed that evening. You have been through a lot since then.
----------------------------------------Uncharacteristically for me, I made no notes during that trip. I have a couple of pictures from that night. Here is one: ![]() Maybe you will reckognise it, maybe it looks exactly like so many other 'social clubs' where you may have performed. By the way, I bought some tickets for the 'sweepstakes' in The Lord Nelson' the day after as well and gave them to you, and I recall you told me one of them panned out. That's a terrible ordeal you have suffered. Hospitals are dangerous places infectionwise. It's all to easy to catch something, and they claim they cannot clean/sanitise/desinfect themselves out of it. Have you fully recovered from your stroke? Please give my best to Sue ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 24, 2018 8:26:18 AM] |

The important bits are still working. I always did have trouble in balancing, but it's worse now. My left hand fingers are not as nimble as they used to be, but that could be due to old age. the main problem is mobility....Balance, and the movement of my left leg.
I did this last Saturday, recorded by a friend of mine Hallelujah |

I know we cannot expect to function like 17-year-olds for our entire lives.
Some things you can fight or persuade to go away by rehabilitation, others you have to learn to live with. Thank you very much for your link, John. Those not-as-nimble-anymore-fingers can still turn out a decent twang, indeed. My volume was turned high up. Next when I repeat, I'll dance, too with my swollen leg ![]() ![]() ![]() - but what is it then ![]() Did you recognize the picture? |

Ahh ...the sexy compression stockings ![]() I'm on blood thinning tablets, amongst a load of other stuff. They were prescribed when I first started having TIA'S several years ago. |

We could open the 'Aches and Pains and most Sexy Compression Stockings' thread, Guitar Man.
----------------------------------------Wet T-shirt competitions wouldn't stand a chance. Ha! Arrghh! What a mess! We call it 'the shrimp jump' - we can do that to improve on our balance ![]() And we'll call in some engineer who shall be charged with inventing a doing-what-you-shouldn't-do-for-hours-on-end-desk with a raised-legs-facility where you can still reach that essential-keeping-us-alive-keyboard. And you'll twang us through all of it ... ![]() Which it very well could be. After all this is Britain As for the birch trees: I have no idea if they move or not. It's pitch dark here EDIT: 'hardlynot' changed into just 'hardly'. That should suffice ![]() EDIT II: Geez, I state what I intend to correct but forget to correct it ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 27, 2017 7:04:13 PM] |

I have a mini Ipad that I use when I put my feet up. I also have a mobile phone, but the keyboard is not not as good as the Ipad. I really prefer to use the desktop.
