treasures from the shed

70 years ago dad bought this Flight magazine
The rocker arm came from a crashed German aircraft that he was set to guard He removed it to prevent it being nicked devilish
Its a very well made component polished alloy, brass bearing housings and needle rollers moves very smoothly.

As well as the rocker arm there used to be a 6inch square of outer fabric from the aircraft with a bullet hole in it but it had vanished when I came to clear out mums house.
I've no idea as to the breed of aircraft as dad had died in the November of 1942 I didn't arrive until Jan 1943.
Things that I'll never know, just what Mum passed on
as to where these artifacts came from things I should have fetched back up here from the shed stuff that belonged to grandad like the cobblers Last's metal feet of different sizes set into a wooden 30 inch holder that you held between your knees. along with scraps of leather brads and segs cobblers knife and wax.

There were some old bicycle lamps carbide and oil I think mum had got rid of these some years before but I remember playing with them they had a a sprung suspension fixing

Re: treasures from the shed

My conkers from the next door tree are pretty puny this year but I'm not enough in folklore to know what this bodes for the winter.

Re: treasures from the shed

Damp here but not too cold so the boiler isn't straining.

Re: treasures from the shed

Grey and damp here but mild enough not to stir the boiler.

Any news of the skipper?

Moaning all.........
Teds Ok, grumpy as ever sad which means he's fine.

Sorry folks, I've been busy this weekend and will be for the next few weeks, It's poppy appeal time again;
My role as chairman of our local RBL branch means that I have a lot of organising and running around.
I'm also responsible for coordinating the civic parade on the 11th, not an easy task when dealing with Dignatories, Priests & their wardens, Police, Ambulance service, the different Bands, Cadets Forces, Veteran Associations, etc', the list goes on! just getting them to work as a team and working to a time schedule is hard work! fortunately I've pulled together a great team of ex'and serving forces men that help me! applause

Wear your poppy with pride folk
