Got myself a little bargain at the local Cancer charity shop, a hand painted Pussers rum decanter made by Wade depicts the battle of Trafalger and the oceans of the world in latin around the base. £20.00

Re: Keep the home fires burning

I have one shaped like this contains just a Tot

Also have one like this approx 1ltr

Jolly Jack at Tot Time gathered round the rum fanny chiefie keeping an eye on things

Jack Dusty and the Tanky deal out the rum ration which was let down with water

The rum fanny on the mess table killick of the mess dishes the tots out

I am thinking your good purchase was empty Tony, a bottle of Pussers costs about 30 Quid today

Gulpers / Sippers / Sandy Bottoms/Neaters/Rum Rats
3 ‘wets’ (a tiny, tiny sip) equalled 1 sip.
3 sips equalled one gulp.
3 gulps equalled one tot.

Wets, sippers and gulpers amounts your mate could take from your tot in return for some favour he had done for you. Sandy Bottoms you've had the whole lot Neaters self explanatory drank before dilution . Rum rats those jolly jacks who by hook or crook obtained extra Rum .

Artnoon all.........

Brilliant pictures Den,
Ted was on the Eagle, he served on her during the Suez crisis. She was the largest of the Aircraft Carriers at the time!
Alas there was no rum in the decanter crying but it is in fine condition and I could fill it up again smile ( 1Ltre )
It depicts the navy toast's for each day of the week, Saturday made me smile, 'sweethearts and wives, may thay never meet'. wink

Have a great day all ......
