For the moment just abort any work unit that freezes up like this and report the work unit to this thread so the techs know which batches are giving problems. I had only one from such WU: E000127_ 919A_ 000l2100z_ 1-- I aborted it manually. ![]() |

I have two CEP WUs that had this problem, one yesterday and one today:
E000130_ 134A_ 000l3i00o_ 1-- and E000126_ 857A_ 000l1c00n_ 1-- I aborted both of these after manually trying get them restarted - using suspend/resume and BOINC restart. Both hung at 0 CPU time. The E000126 WU has another problem in that the results status still shows it as "in progress" even though it was aborted. The E000130 WU shows as being aborted. - D |

In the early entries of this thread I stated that I have two PCs running work for the CEP. One was exhibiting the problem discussed here, one was not. The machine that seemed to be successfully running CEP work has finished a few WUs. Here are two from the messages log.
----------------------------------------1/12/2009 6:15:18 PM|World Community Grid|Computation for task E000121_129A_000k3e007_1 finished 1/12/2009 7:31:04 PM|World Community Grid|Computation for task E000121_000A_000k3b004_0 finished All of the files uploaded and the two tasks were successfully reported to the mother ship. Hi mdparkhill,
The batches from 125 on up seem to run at 0% progress. Everybody should abort them. Lawrence |

You say this is a problem with BOINC 6.4.5 so don't use it, but I have had the same problem with other versions of BOINC and different WUs all for CEP. The most recent WU with this problem is E000128_123A_000l2600t Created 1/9/09. I have also seen WUs advance rather quickly, but then they reach a point where they don't seem to progress although they complete sometime in the middle of the night.
For the ones that say they are running, but aren't, I have had to ABORT or my system is tied up not doing any work. |

The point is that both versions are UNSUPPORTED, and unsupported should mean that if you have a problem using unsupported software then don't bother reporting ANY problems. Its just like Windows 3.22 or Windows 7 (non-beta) where you cannot call Microsoft for help because they are UNSUPPORTED (ie: meaning no help is available). |
