I'm glad I could give you a good chuckle. As did all of your posts thus far have done for me.

GOKUSSJ3 - please read and abide by the forum rules.

Everyone else - please ignore now; I think GOKUSSJ3 has already been told all the relevant facts.

Re: BOINC Agent sucks

For what it's worth, I've converted eleven ofl my machines that I can still access over to BOINC and have experienced no problems. Six other machines will continue running UD since I can no longer access them. I was a reluctant convert, but so far I really like BOINC and feel that it runs better than the UD agent.

I started ignoring GOKUSSJ3's posts after the first when I realized he's someone that prefers not to use punctuation. How 1337. lol

smile Re: BOINC Agent sucks, for those that give up too easily for the liking of most.

It is pretty shocking to read a post by knreed which informed that BOINC was 3x more efficient at pulling unique jobs thru the system than UD agent can.

THE UNSAID: Coldly calculating, if some get lost in the conversion, it still overall markedly improves the net production even though we wont be seeing that in the total CPU data. In Simple Terms: If BOINC's quorum 2 produced 1 net result to go via the assimilator to the scientists, it needs 6 of UD agent to get the same.

On the Migration Meter, we passed several times already the 94% of points generated by BOINC. The hourly credit went up from 65 to 67.4 on a weekly average.

So..........

Convert now and you make 3 times the Difference.
Visit the Migration FAQ in the Start Here forum for some basic. We do everything we can to help you past any hobble in the road to BOINCvinity.

Covert now and you make 3 times the Difference.
.

Hope you can still edit your post. Convert. :)

But to be honest, how could it have come as a shock? All the other projects that had a stand-alone program before changing to BOINC went before WCG and said their data cycles went up.

Well, it was until that revelation an unknown to me as to how bad it really was..... sure it works, sure we could forget it and still collect points for every second on the wallclock, but that's not the essence of crunching. Had BOINC been more mature and with solid proxy and 'simple' interface one year ago or more, I'm sure WCG would have let the cat out of the bag much earlier and given it the booth.

Re: BOINC Agent sucks, for those that give up too easily for the liking of most.

Hello all...

Im totally new to this stuff...

In the past (maybe 4 or 5 years ago) I was do a little Seti@home...

But yesterday in german TV the world community grid was mentioned and I instantly join...

So I have a InteL Core2 Quad 2.4 Ghz, 4GB Ram and Vista running...

and I do not have a single problem....

Boinc run on all 4 cores 100% all the time and work like a charm... I meanwhile get my first points for sending back units...

The 2 System Fans run at 2.200 RPM (CPU is watercooled and stay below 50C all the time run at 100% On Idle it decent down to 33C)

So...this "noob" here reports ALL FINE love struck

Andreas
