Is it possible that the computers are not recognized due to the previous windows ID ? Does WCG uses the mac adress or something like this ?

No such tortuous problem, you are only one more victim of a now-well-known problem of certificate with Ubuntu 8.10.

That works love struck simply by deleting as root the ca-bundle.crt file in the /var/lib/boinc-client directory.
