Hope you lads don't mind me butting in again, but I agree with Blizzie...build your own system.
You can put together an exceptional one for a lot less than $2000 ![]() |

Dammit Blizzie, my stat banner is toast again and matches yours exactly...again. It was fine until my last post.
That'll teach me for butting in. ![]() |

[gunner], I see what you mean. I looked at both your stat banner ( http://dcstat.com/sig/3033.gif ) and Blizzie's ( http://dcstat.com/sig/3021.gif ) and yes, both are reporting the exact same numbers. You may want to check in at the forums over on DCStat.com to see if they're having problems.

This happened last night too, Keith. It seems to happen when I post in your thread, for whatever reason (gremlins, maybe).
The code is correct according to the DCStat site. Very weird. |

I did a quick check over at their forum. Nothing. Given the timing, I wonder if it's tied to their update process? They update the stats four times a day so quit posting here and see how long it takes to fix itself again. Then post here again after that and see if it goes blizzie on you again. If so, I'd say you may have found a bug in their update process, at least for that type of banner. I've not noticed a problem with mine but it's a different type from yours.

I am totally with you on that, but my technical skills are not really strong enough to let me do what I want (for instance, I want watercooling for both CPU and graphics, and I can't do that myself). If I trusted myself more, I would build my own, but I don't so I think I'm stuck going to a manufacturer. I would even think about building most of it and hiring someone to build the watercooling and check my work for errors.
Are you building your own or buying from a manufacturer? I recommend making your own system. It allows more flexibility and you get to learn from it. I suspected as much. Do you recommend any particular vendors? I personally am fond of ibuypower since they're solid alienware knockoffs. But if you know a better company, let me know. Also, I'm in no hurry whatsoever. My computer is fine right now - runs Bioshock and COD 4 on medium detail well and crunches pretty well too. Build yourself a new machine. I will help you with specs and budget costs. The motherboard doesn't allow overclocking and it's a Pentium 4. Why do you want to watercool a Pentium 4? You can't upgrade CPUs since the motherboard do not support Socket 775 for the C2D and C2Q. Video cards.. depending on what kind you want will cost about $550. Get 2x 8800 GTs. But if I were you, I'd just get one for now. Watercooling, I'm not too familiar with making custom ones.. So I can't help you there. You cannot just install a new motherboard, when you replace the motherboard, the whole Windows OS needs to be reinstalled. So.. I'd get a new computer. You can get one with a powerful CPU for crunching and a 8800 GT for gaming. ![]() Sorry if this makes no sense. I have to run to my Physics Seminar for homework.. Catch you later. |

Watercooling done by the manufacturer won't be as great as you think it'd be. People over at overclock.net will provide you help with making your own watercooling setup. The risk of an improper watercooling setup is leakage.. And when leakage occurs, your computer is in trouble.. CPU, video card. If you don't mind air cooling you can get a Thermaltake Ultra 120 Extreme cooler. Stock cooling on your 2x 8800 GTs will be enough. That will be sufficient. I guess the question should be, are you overclocking your CPU/video card? Watercooling isn't needed if you aren't. I would love to try watercooling myself.. But I'm hoping I can afford college. ![]() ![]() And sorry about your stats banner. >_> [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 17, 2008 8:09:30 AM] |

I know yours is correct and mine was until today. I just want to know how you hacked my code. ![]() The Boinc one of mine is ok, but the other WGC is also screwy, no relationship to my actual at all.... |
