Jonathan --
I really love music! Most of my listening is classical, although jazz (I also like Dave Brubeck and got to listen to him live at Earlham College in 1960), Big Band era and Oldies from the 50's and 60's are in my collection. I recently expanded my CD collection substantially by purchasing collections of the complete works of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. I really love the works by Glazunov (particularly his ballet, Ruses d'Amour), Mendelssohn -- oh, the list is too long! I am not particularly interested in Opera, although I love to go to the Opera. One particular piece in Opera I do love is "The Flower Duet" from Léo Delibes’s opera Lakmé. It is used as a background in this video on YouTube (one of my favorite YouTube entries). |

By the way, I now have three pages of Pending Validation work units. Dengue drugs means I finish work units mad fast but they spend a lot of time in PV jail. I can't wait till they all clear though! They also make up the only work units that have ever failed on me. 8 FAILURES all on 11/05/07. Anyone else have this experience? I routinely have 3 pages (~35-40 WU's) in pending validation and most are DDDT's. I think it happens due to the differing ways the projects send out work. If the initial replication is 2 work units with a quorum of two work units, you have a much better chance of being paired with someone who is slow, does not return it on time or return it at all. If it is 15 rep's with a quorum or 10 the chance is better you get the quorum on the first release. One good thing is that if the quorum is not met on the first release, WCG sends out the additional WU's to machines that routinely return work quickly and with a 2-day return time. But even with that it can take 11 days or more for a WU to validate. As to invalids, all I can say is look at the details. If all the results returned are invalid or error then it was a bad WU. If it was just you that was invalid then the problem occured with your machine. If it is a mix then the problem may be with a particular OS (say MAC). The good news is that some days "luck" is with you and not only does all the work you do that day validate, but also the PV jail doors open and you have a huge day with the stats. I wanted to share some of my favourite music with y'all. I'm curious what you guys are listening to as well. Like Dave, I love music too and will listen to most anything but 'gangsta rap" ... as it just all sounds alike to me. A few of the members post what they are listening to here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=13527 Most are from YouTube. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

I had to laugh this morning as I just noticed I am now a "Veteran Cruncher" ... up from "Senior Cruncher".
---------------------------------------- As the tag has nothing to do with actual "crunching" ( https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...620&offset=0#lastpost ) it gives me a chuckle. I guess it just means that I have too much time, fast fingers and a BIG MOUTH ... Hey! I resemble that remark. ![]() ![]() |

I have the new machine up and running and hope to see some results tomorrow. Unfortunately, the first WU's downloaded were 10+ hour jobs.

Total points returned today: 171,137 I like that number. ![]() Yes, we have a very good day today point-wise. The number of members returning a result each day can still be improved a little though. It's amazing the difference a handful of folks can make in just one day. |
