Well, I'm scratching my head.
---------------------------------------- The new machine didn't validate anything and I still have 34 WU's in the PV jail. Yet I had a personal best in run time and points. I'm not real sure I will ever understand the BOINC math. Way short in results though and that's what we're here for. Cheers to all. ![]() ![]() |

That's always a great feeling. My PV purgatory has only 12 in it at the moment. I think you are running a couple more machines than my 2 core 2 duos, though. |

What does the RAC mean in your tag Dataman? Also, you're not that far away from Dave (although half a million points is a fair margin). If you continue to prosper in the markets, you can build a server farm and catch him easy. Just more motivation for you to get even less sleep and earn even more bank!

What does the RAC mean in your tag Dataman? Just another meaningless ranking term in the grid world. And thanks! I enjoy plently of sleep. Good numbers from you today. ![]() ![]() |

Got a new toy to play with
I bought an iRobot Roomba that I have named Cedrick. I gave him a try yesterday morning and had him vacuum my living room and kitchen. I was happy to see that he did a pretty good job. Tonight, at 2:00 AM, he is scheduled to do it on his own without my involvement. I did find a couple electrical cords he had a bit of a problem with, but they have been moved out of the way, so he should be able to do his job on his own tonight. I will let you all know how he did tomorrow. |

Well, I woke up at 1:50 AM (of course). Pomptly at 2:00 AM Cedrick woke up and started to work. At one point, I thought he had broken down as his motor stopped, but then restarted. He went through about 4 cycles of this and continued on. I think that he had gotten wedged under my laptop stand which has a sloping leg on it that he pushed himself under and the restarts were to get out from under it. All went well until 45 minutes into the job when it quit outright and beeped. The beep code was that the battery was drained. As it is a reconditioned unit, I think the first owner had not conditioned the battery properly on it's first charge (first charge is supposed to be a full 16 hours). A fully charged battery is supposed to last 120 minutes. I have ordered a new battery.
As far as the cleaning goes, I think it does a pretty decent job. On an earlier run that I let it run for about a half hour, it had picked up quite a bit of hair, grit, and crumbs from a floor that really didn't look that dirty. I have a cleaning lady that comes once a month and my sons were vacuuming on weekends when they visited. I think I will be okay with Cedrick running a couple times a week and my cleaning lady once a month. It might even be possible to rely on Cedrick alone, but I still need my cleaning lady for other things I can't do and it is part of her normal service. All in all, I give it a thumbs up. |
