Well, not long to wait to see if the tyres are going to be an ongoing problem.

Desperate by the accident between Vettel and Kubica...2 nice guys who made a fantastic race...
For french TV, they are "the moral of the day" : no Kers, and no suspect rear aerodynamic part (I don't remember the name in english), and at the top. Very lucky Hamilton & Alonso... no great overtaking, but 3rd... ![]() |

Anyone know what the position about tyres is?
I read some comments from Bridgestone that the two (soft and hard) slicks will still be the form for Sepang but not necessarily the same compound as last weekend. I haven't seen any mention of wet weather tyres and there could well be heavy rain this weekend. |

One thing is that they don't bring the optimal tyre anymore to the GP. And there is now always one option in between the two types of tyres they are bringing missing.
For example they will bring the medium and the supersoft. The optimal tyre would probably be the soft, but that one is left home. They do this on purpose to make the teams chose more carefully and make the tyres a more important part of racing. |

Also they will bring the soft to Sepang which they never have done before, so a warning to the teams to be carefull.
----------------------------------------Nothing about wets though. Another thing is the visibility with heavy rain on the end of the day, could become a serious problem. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 31, 2009 6:20:22 PM] |

It was just in the past that slicks were virtually undrivable when it was very wet and there was always the decision that had to be made as to when and if to change; hold on after a short shower in the hope that the track would soon dry out again or think that the lost lap times wouldn't be worth the risk.
It's hard to think that these slicks will be that much better. |

'That is not different than before I think, they probably have intermidiates and full wets to chose from if it start raining. But it's up to the driver and team to decide when to go in and change tyres.
Soon to found out as the weather prediction for Sepang includes heavy rainfall. Also apparently KERS has an influence on the tyres. |
