Re: Data exports & status of Data Processing Agreement

The idea is not to hide members from themselves but to not publicly identify them in reporting. Members will continue to use their original ID but in any public report (not requested by the member themselves) their contribution will be aggregated under "anonymous" for team or community level reporting.

Re: Data exports & status of Data Processing Agreement

Is there any way for us to put pressure on IBM to get this GDPR done? This is getting ridiculous at this point. Who we do write letters to? I'm not talking e-mail... I'm talking postal snail mail from all over the world.

My guess is not really. WCG doesn't generate revenue for them and while this is an annoyance and a PR issue, it isn't a major issue in either respect and the primary goal of the endeavor is not being impeded.

But it gets a nice "tax return" for IBM as it's a "non-profit organisation" run & funded by IBM. cool

I would be surprised if the tax break fully offset the cost of the project in either hours worked or resources expended. Having a corporate lawyer work on this will add to that. It's a low-priority issue and the EU branch of IBM has bigger things going on.

Re: Data exports & status of Data Processing Agreement

Hey WCG,

Any update?

We're still in regular contact with the lawyers and we are making really good progress towards ensuring volunteers won't have to sign an agreement that's more relevant to commercial engagements. While this is all taking a long time, it'll be worth it in the long term and we're hopeful that we're going to end up with a solution that's both volunteer-friendly and GDPR compliant.

As always, thanks for your patience!
