Amazon has physical locations in most states, that's been the guideline until recently on sales tax. They also require your address to ship you anything or charge a credit card. Unless you get down to tracking what IPs originate where, which isn't necessarily reliable, pretty much any enforcement of a state privacy law will require users to divulge the very information a privacy law is supposed to protect. Whether they can enforce it is California's problem. The EU may have problems enforcing GDPR too. They all may be more trouble than they are worth. |

Can we please have users as: Hello all,- active hidden user - inactive hidden user So we can see the grand total of the recuited users here on WCG. With the latest release of the website, members who have chosen to have their data to be private will now show up as 'Anonymous' on the various statistics pages. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |

I have question. What happens to the data after it is all calculated and who benefits financially. I do hope it is not big pharma. That would in my opinion be bad. I do not want to be contributing only to make the pharmaceutical companies turn around and profit billions of dollars off our work. I know that sounds cynical of me since this is for a great cause, its just that health care is outrages, and people cannot afford the costs. Sorry if I went off topic. Just wanted to know if you folks know who profits the most?

Just wanted to know if you folks know who profits the most? World Community Grid requires that all research data generated on it be published in the public domain, so everyone has free access to it. Of course, after accessing that, also corporations have the possibility to develop products with the help of that data and profit from that. However, everyone has the same chances, and developing real products (vaccines, medicines etc.) is what benefits us all in the end. I personally feel good about how WCG handles this issue, and that is a prerequisite for me to invest serious time and money into the project. |

Truly drawing a blank. lavaflow, No stats for an Anonymous member are going to show, so it should be blank where the stats would be for a non Anonymous member. Is that what you are referring to...?
