No jailbreak. That's the new credit system that was part of the upgrade. Look closely at your Results Status and you'll see your claimed credit numbers much higher since the upgrade. Reading that it should drop soon but I'm not seeing it yet! ![]() I see that the credits are up a bit, yes, but the results and run-time are much higher than normal as well indicating to me that it was a jailbreak. Results and runtime are up because it was 1.5 days worth of work instead of 1. The outage prevented work from the second half of Tuesday from being returned until Wednesday. |

It was a record day for many of us. Basically, with the new credit system, we're claiming about double what we were. If you're returning a task that the wingman returned before the upgrade (or vice versa), you'll get roughly fifty percent more points granted than in the past. Gonna be interesting to see the claimed/granted numbers on tasks that went out after the upgrade. I don't have time to dig into this and understand it right now and after all, the points/credits are just for fun but... As a matter of principle, I really dislike rubber rulers. ![]() Agreed on both counts. I think this is due more to the BOINC folks than WCG. It happened to WCG because of new server code. I think the BOINC folks are trying to address the variation in credit given by different BOINC projects for comparable work. |

I hope you are right in that the points/credits across distributing processing organizations should be somewhat comparable and I understand they are not. On the other hand, the WCG has maintained the integrity of its system and not attempted to poach contributors as other organizations have. I sincerely appreciate that "High-Road" approach to conducting themselves. I worry that with the changing technologies and the changing rulings on points and credits, that sense of stability and credibility will be tarnished. In any case, no one asked me. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by RT at Mar 9, 2012 5:47:37 PM] |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Congratulations Gerald, Coingames and David!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Judson. That is a nice total of points. Glad to see the machines reaching their potential. I am not sure about the AMD processors. I know they are cheaper but I don't think that they produce as much throughput as do the Intel processers. As to the question about the other BOINC projects, I have no real idea...I suspect not since the WCG has, to my knowledge, always been the most conservative from the Point/credit viewpoint anyway. I am at the point that I think we will see some GPU Betas here at WCG before too long and so, I ordered a new video card so that I will be in a position to run the Beta GPU work when/if it appears. Everyone make this day thoroughly enjoyable. ![]() |
