Hang in there RT. Taking pain killer is not a sin.
Get well soon. hugs

Amen Rej! Pain is a very personal thing. We each have our own thresholds and tolerance levels. Much of our mind set is formed in our younger days. I grew up knowing that you took aspirin for minor pain. Options for post-operative pain or chronic pain were much more limited than today. The whole mind set of medicine with respect to pain has changed. Pain was just a part of the recovery process. You just had to "man up" and deal with it. Medicine today is recognizing that pain is far too often unnecessary suffering. The choices for treating pain are much more diverse today and it is far more often a matter of finding the one that works for you than "take this and deal with it". Still, medicine has a long way to go from its "one size fits all" attitude. We each are different and react to the same medication differently. Those lists of side effects are not random things that just happen. They are often determined by how our body works and our genetic makeup. My concern for RT has been that, like anyone, it's a much bigger challenge to stick to your therapy when doing so means having to deal with intense pain. We shouldn't have to accept, as it was in the past, that undergoing necessary surgery would mean accepting some new limitations. I'm no fan of "popping pills" and avoid taking pain medications any longer than I absolutely have to. These days, a good trip to the doctor is one where I get to quit taking a pill. Still, it is my wish to see RT return to his full range of motion without pain.

Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc'-Ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.--i think Rt posted this once but its good to remember

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 56 smilesmile

Congratulations Judson, xroule, brown chris and indioxin!!!! applause applause applause applause

Thanks guys.. I have really been so much out of the loop on medical stuff that I really did not have any notion of what progress had been made with pain meds. To me it was narcotics or no narcotics. Take them at great risk of addiction and while taking them had no real stigma associated with it, it was much better to "Man Up", deal with it and don't take the chance of getting addicted. To some degree, I still have that sort of psychology. But, I am adapting somewhat. Today I took pain meds (below the allowable max but quite a bit for me) and had the best PT session I have had to date. I am thinking that I will continue that for the MWF sessions and in another week or 10 days I would be back to 0 on the extension. I am still over 120 on the flex so that is not a problem.
I really do appreciate your concern and assure you that I will stay after it till I get it as good as can be expected with a TKR.

I am more concerned about our cancer patient than my mechanical issues.

Oh. I did install a NVIDIA GTX 580 on one of my I7s trying to get some of the beta work but so far, no luck on that front.

Back to that other discussion, It seems to me that points are up a bit for the same work.

Everyone hang in there and have good evening/night/morning/day.

When the 9 extra people leave in a few days, I will be back more regularly.
