David, I should make ruby on GFAM late this week it looks like. If I can get another WU to validate before the server outage, I'll roll over past three million BOINC credits according to BOINC Manager. Think I'll try crunching some SN2S after the GFAM ruby.

 Good Tuesday Morning MOT Congratulations Daeloan!  I love the milestone days! Looks like switching back to HCC caused the inverse swing in points for me..and perhaps for Judson? Or perhaps we just had a jail break? or, did you add horses Judson? Anyway a good day for points with almost one and a quarter million. On the knee, dkt I have had good motion almost all along. I am at 120 and going for 125-130. The problem has been the extension. I go from 2 to 10 within a few days and then back. That is the most painful part. My function is, according to the PTs, excellent for 4 weeks. I do not use the walker or even a cane most of the time now. Only when I walk my driveway (about 3/8 mile round trip). I do most of the things I normally do but less and shorter times. I am self sufficient now. I hate to take pain meds but unfortunately am still having to take them. Everyone (MDs, PAs and PTs) assure me that it is completely normal and everything is going well. Logic tells me to believe them but I have been fortunate all these years to be blessed with a good body that performs well and recovers quickly and that continues to bias my expectations. Thus far, the score is Experts 3, Experience 0. Life is good. Have a great day as each of us has an expiration date (not printed on the label thankfully). |

Our numbers will be WAY down today. Everyone else's will be too though. It looks like the servers started coming back up about half an hour before the UTC end of day. Even if someone was able to return work, they haven't started the validators yet so no one would get any points yet. Besides, the validators will have quite abacklog to work through when they do start them. Also, it looks like they've scheduled another outage for Thursday for updates to their file system software. From some of the comments I'm reading about what folks are seeing post-outage, it appears that the admins were upgrading the BOINC server software to levels that have the latest GPU support as there are new GPU-related options in the profiles/projects settings. Finally,as it appears that the servers are going up and down for now as they work through some unexpected matters and as they wrap up the outage, you may well find that the communications timer on your machines getting set to wait for a full hour. It may prove wise to manually update with the servers to get your work returned without having a huge crush of work ahead of you waiting for validation. Turning out to be an interesting week.

Keith, what is the difference between BOINC credits and points of which you have 20,686,979? Actually, I have 21,215,266 WCG points. The 20,686,979 are WCG points I have while a member of MOT. BOINC uses credits, not points so other projects like SETI and such report BOINC credits. Points here at WCG are a relic of the pre-BOINC days when WCG only ran the UD client. When they later added BOINC and then phased out the UD client, they had to establish a conversion rate of seven, which explains the references you will see from time to time here in the forums to dog-years or dog year points. Three million BOINC credits translates to 21 million WCG points so I have around 215K points here at WCG that haven't been reported to the various third-party stat sites like BOINStats and such. In the past, there was talk of converting from points to credits and that's one of the issues that would solve. |

Just posted over in the thread for server upgrade issues over in the BOINC Agent Supprt forum . Everyone may want to keep an eye on it. I noticed that every WU that I have that is now ready to validate (both I and wingman have PV status) had the Try Validation link. As I understand it, if that link displays, normal validation will NOT pick up that WU until you either click on the link (which schedules it for validation) or it reaches the current reporting deadline (which could be days from now).
----------------------------------------Also, note the filesystem upgrade outage now schedule for Thursday. This is going to be quite the week.
