Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Such a day. -20F(-29C) this morning and then in the afternoon it starts to snow. So far it has made it up to -2F(-19C) and still some light fluffy snow. Looks like it will be winter for a while yet with 8 out of the next 10 days slated to have lows less than 0F(-18C). Not the coldest it has been, but we are getting some lengthy stretches of coolness. I am thinking this January should might make the top 25 in coldest January's here, but we will see at the end of the month.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks. Thinking of selling my duallie and just crunch with my hex. Still have an itch to build a quad socket system. Will wait to see if AMD goes through with the next gen chips...

Is this what you've been waiting for, Bearcat?

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-opteron-6300-warsaw-cpu,25832.html

Its exciting news. If these prices are right (and if they are actually available to buy) it's not too bad either:

"Starting prices for the Opteron 6370P and 6338P processors are $598 and $377".

It seems the only difference between this and the previous 6300 series is lower clock speeds, lower TDP, and lower price. It might not be much of an improvement...Exciting to see they are still in the market though.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Saw this article on Yahoo news and the only reason I noticed it was the picture was taken just down the road apiece from my place.

I did get the chance to blow out my driveway this morning. It was a bit frosty -20F(-29C) which would not have been too bad except the wind was still blowing pretty good. If I hadn't covered my face, I am sure I would have frozen something. That was the first time this year I have had to do that. Things should moderate a bit after tonight.
I saw the notice about MCM1 problems and switched all my systems to FAAH for a bit but I still got dinged with about a dozen errors. Switched back now that they have the problem resolved.
Stay warm and keep crunching.
Cheers

Just a note, the link to your team site seems to be dead.

Thanks. The team member who had maintained a site evidently took it down. I will have to contact some of them and figure out how to set up another one. I am open to suggestions.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! The winter wonderland continues anew. 8 more inches of snow on top of the 5 we got a couple of days ago. And wind - driveway blown shut again this morning. And then back into some more below zero (fahrenheit) days.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That bites. Forgot to post earlier that I shut down my rigs while on vacation. 78 degrees now here in Cozumel. I feel for you folks. Hate to come back Monday to 10 degrees. Stay safe everyone.
