Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That pesky dewpoint has stayed over 70 for a couple of days now. Just plain feels steamy even at night.
Cheers

Some weather there shock

Apropoo,
will lose two i5 cores.
One for prolez-stuff and another one did gave fan-error after black-out.

I was planning to try fix it myself, but think it still have on-site-warranty left, so rather employ one engineer to drive around little a bit.
I think it will take few months before they call me back, and then they probably will ask would I like to have garlic with my pizza.

Sight....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That is a bummer. Makes you think seriously about the term "planned obsolescence."

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Figured I'd repost the August challenge link so we can stay on top of the last few days of the challenge:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/challe...lenge.do?challengeId=5966

Looks like we'll close with a second place finish IF we can hold off Ukraine for 2 days. Very respectable finish!

Was able to fix it. Earring seems to be fine, fun was just jammed against metal frame for some reason.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I think those fans have bushings rather than bearings. If that is true, then perhaps the bushings have worn enough so any jarring will cause the fan once again to move out of position. Was it the fan itself or just the fan housing which was out of position ?
Cheers

Did not open even that metal casing on top, but most certainly I think you are right.
If I would need to make bet, bushing would get my ante.

It was not matter of static friction or anything, it literally was just stacked against that tin collar around it. Tiny poke with screwdriver and it start to roll around.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Sounds like the laptop took a fairly hard hit if the fan is not simply wearing out. I've replaced fans in ThinkPads a number of times and they normally start getting noisy first. Replacements are fairly cheap and not hard to swap out. I used a YouTube video to jog my memory the last time.

Thank you.

Property with poltergeist, yield approx 50% more than standard industrial cube here on Thule.
One zero more on my real estate portvolio.
