Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks...it was the result of taking a 24C Opteron machine off network communication for 7 days...was a little curious what it could pull in a day. Plus have to keep mclaver on his toes every now and then :)

Osmo Vanska
Cheers

Sound familiar, he was conductor of Lahti Sinfonia (mi link above) two decades, so sure is familiar to me.
It was so odd when Brink linked this (http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/cms/listen/classical/), there was some Vänskä theme when I start to listen it and remember wondering how on earth two individual radio station on another sides of planet, can sound exactly same.

About Thursday concert, sure is nice to have such artistic fathers on city council.

It was opening of season and was seriously wondering why on earth there is some-never-heard-Lithuanian composer (Raminta Šerkšnytė / b. 1975) on begin.
After two minutes was gasping how the heck I have manage miss such composer, it was really from from the depths (de profundis). It was tragic as h*ll, but was able to stay on majestic form with every note, so it was really impressing.

Then there was Kirill Terentiev with violin. He was applauded back four times.
Noise (dudes on balcony did literally thumb their feet) did not show any calming, so main star did drag first violist when exiting fourth time.

Last there was some Schubert, it was yawning to cliche, but was happy about it.
Sure was nice conduct to bed time, did have rough day before so was very happy about that kind of lullaby.

(dudes on balcony did literally thumb their feet)

I had to think about this one a little bit. It evoked quite a comical sight in my mind, the guys in the balcony playing with their feet with their hands, using their thumbs (peukalo or peukku). I think you meant to write "thump" that is a pounding with their feet on the floor to express their enthusiasm.
It sure sounds like it was a good concert and I am glad you enjoyed it. I had to look up on you tube and listen to some of his music. Nice.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I was very tired and very happy yesterday, and it just was most funniest thing on earth.

Some weekend did I have. Jolly good time on jolly good company.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I decided it was time to harvest most of the pumpkins, squash, and gourds this weekend. I got several of each, some pretty nice ones, but all in all it was not a good year for them. I left several of the butternut squash on the vine in hopes they will ripen before the frost. Too cold in the beginning, too dry in the middle, and too wet in the end. I planted three varieties of potatoes. The Yukon Gold did very well. The Viking Reds did poorly and the purple potatoes did fair. The purple ones are a longer season potato so I still have several hills of them left because the vines are still green. And the pullets have finally started laying somewhat consistently.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

What's up team mates? How was your summer? Been laying low on the grid. Do 1 CEP2 and a couple climate prediction wu's to keep things cool on the machine. Been by reading some posts from time to time around here. Bummer no new projects yet. Took over captain at climate prediction for team minnesota. If you can spare a thread, come crunch a few while waiting on WCG to produce new projects. Looks like we are in for a cold winter. Great for crunching. How's everyone doing?

Glad to hear from you. Summer has been mostly good, but like most times some things are good and others not so good. I saw the county auction is coming up on Sat. Oct 5. I will be there to see what kind of machines they will be selling. I did not get anything last year as the prices were too high, but I have gotten good deals in the past. It all depends on what they have upgraded. This coming Saturday I will be running in the local 5K to raise funds for prostate cancer. Hope the weather is cool and dry on saturday morning.
Cheers
