Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It has stopped snowing here a while ago, about 4:00 pm. The official total as of 12:27 pm was 1.2 inches. I think we got about 6 inches(15cm). This is based on how much was on a level piece of ground before the wind started whipping up. It is a steady 20mph(32kph), but the drifting is not too bad yet. By looking at the radar I could see the bulk of the snow hit the Twin Cities and south and east of there. Did get out to go to church tonight but the streets are slipperier than greasy kid stuff. I won't blow any snow tonight because it would just drift back in anyway. That will be a morning job.
Stay safe everyone.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Just south of St cloud, we got around 7-8 inches. Plowed around 11 since I didn't know how much more would come in. Did a few driveways to help out. This ranger really pushes this stuff great. Will be out in the morning to hit the drifts. Saw the county plows once today. Guess they gave up till it's over to save some money. Hope everyone survived the storm. Stay safe. Next few days are going to be bitter! Stay warm!

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I've been playing with my new toy and decided to do some GPU crunching on GPUgrid. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why I keep getting the message "No usable GPUs found". Googled for 2 hours before I read a snippet on this forum where they say "You can not run BOINC as a service while GPU crunching. Re-Install, go to Advanced and make sure it is not set to install as a "Protected Service".
What the....can't run as a service? frustrated
So on these GPU grid sites, do you think they tell you this up front?!? or am I blind nerd . That's always a possibility. laughing biggrin smile straight face sad crying

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

BOINC for GPU crunching can't be installed as a service on Vista/Win7 because of the way the video drivers/security are handled.

You will also see that message if you log in via remote desktop.

P.S. We're about to find out how well that hummer is going to handle a snow storm.

A 4 wheel drive snow plow got stuck in front of my house last night. My neighbor had to pull him out.

P.S. We're about to find out how well that hummer is going to handle a snow storm.

That's the same storm we just finished with. I hope that little guy finds some good shelter.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We got around 2 inches here and it has warmed up to 35F, so it's already melting away. I can't imagine getting 16-18 inches, hummingbird or not.

He just stopped by, so at least he made it through the first snow.

I put out a dab of suet/peanut butter mix hoping to get him a little extra protein. I have no idea if he has or will eat it.

Tonight and tomorrow it's supposed to get close to single digits. I still can't believe he's here. I guess they breed in the upper-Northwest, so cold isn't as much of a problem for them as for other hummers.
