Re: The 50,000+ CPU Days Per Day Thread

Hehehe Hi Sek, I've just noticed that you must have been on the same company objectives course as me a long time ago ( S.M.A.R.T. )

Made so you didn't ask unreasonable targets of your staff.

Cheers
Jacko

Re: The 50,000+ CPU Days Per Day Thread

Heels over the ditch, 4x50k+ days this week already..... will number 5 be in the cards.... the going is a bit slower at start of Friday. 3 of the top 10 days are already in this week.

We're setting up for another record week that included record Saturday and Sunday output.... 945 CPU years is now well possible...... Watch this Space for more Great Crushing Updates :-]

cheers

PS Slapshot..... well it's S.M.A.R.T.S when promoting it ;>)

Tuesdays you can't beat a good Tuesday biggrin

Come on folks prove me wrong

I've been wrong before wink

Dave

Almost 51,101 PC days in a day yesterday shock

I reckon we must be pushing out a good 153Tflops before the WU redundancy kicks in

Re: Bravo Dave!

Hi Robby

A Tereflop is this many calculations a second 1,000,000,000,000 that's a million million every second

the flop bit is floating point operations which basically means working on maths with decimal places i.e 25.3245 * 56.8765 is a whole load harder to work out than 3*4

So 153Tflops works out to be 13,219,200,000,000,000,000 decimal maths caculations done by us all in just 1 day on FAAH. HDC, HPF2 and FGC

That's thirteen quintillion, two hundred nineteen quadrillion and twohundred trillion maths calculations a day (American Style Numbering)

Pitched against the Worlds fastest supercomputer list we would make 2nd Spot with only IBM's BlueGene/L at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the States that could beat us http://www.top500.org/list/2006/11/100

As we crunch each Work Unit more than once to ensure accuracy as all those calculations are related to medical research our true output is slightly more that 30TFlops effective which would still put us in there at No16.

All freely given 24/7/365 and getting faster everyday as we gain new crunchers and crunchers PC'S (and Mac's) get statistically faster every day.

We've done about this many -->> 6,210,758,262,261,000,000,000,000 maths calculation give or take wink since kick off on the 16th November 2004

That's six septillion, two hundred and ten sextillion, seven hundred and fifty-eight quintillion, two hundred and sixty-two quadrillion, two hundred and sixty-one trillion maths calculations

Which rest asssured is a lot laughing

I think I'm right but if every one of those calculations translated to a distance of just 1 millimetre you could go there and back to the moon 8,078,478,803,377 times !!!!!!!

shock The 50,000+ CPU Days Per Day Thread

Which rest assured is a lot.

Thanks Dave
Once again I learned that "a lot" is bigger than I can get my tiny Brain around! confused All I can think to say is... thinking
WOW BIG!

Well I better get my feet Flopp'n on the tere-path to work!

Thanks again Dave!

Oh and oneguy, try to imagine 'Pi' like 3.1459. Some have tried on supercomputers to calculate the exact number. So far, they managed to calculate it up to a 51.5 billion decimals http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PiDigits.html..... no end. Try to express that number in words :D
