Hi Team! It's been an interesting crunching day... we put 79,199 points in the books yesterday, nice chunk of crunching if I do say so, making #38 in points rank for the day, doubling Brasil (#79) and dusting Espana (#150) shamefully.
On the other hand, someone (wonder who?) seems to have kicked the Czechs in the hind end, as they went from 50k to 125k in the last two days. I noticed their team captain has 110 computers recorded for WCG, and yesterday he put in 75,000 points all by himself. They've also recruited a half dozen other medium to big producers in the last couple of months. That's impressive, and great for WCG's projects. I'm also glad we have made an impression on another team (well maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I would like to believe that HomeBrewers' rise in the ranks has gotten their attention )Noses back to it, brewers! Hello everyone. Been gone for a few days; did a little second honeymoon thing -- been happily married for 33 years now.
Anyway, this is a nice new thread that you've started here, Fred. I'll have to try some of your recipes when I get a chance. Well, our team is now #120, but it will take us another 4 or 5 days to pass Brasil, but then we should pass two more teams quickly after that (Romania and IBM Winnipeg), so we are slowly but surely crawling toward the Top-100. Keep up the good work, everyone. Cheers. Bill Velek |

Hello everyone. Been gone for a few days; did a little second honeymoon thing -- been happily married for 33 years now. Wow, congrats! Anyway, this is a nice new thread that you've started here, Fred. I'll have to try some of your recipes when I get a chance. Thanks! I've also nuked the people off the www.worldbrewers.info site. I think the title needs something there (don't know what, will keep thinking about it). Cheers FB |

Fred,
----------------------------------------I noticed that your first post in this thread has a problem with the link for the Yahoo Group. I think that it is case sensitive and does not like the caps in "GROUP" or the all caps instead of what I think is correct: "HomeBrewersTeam". It says group not found when you click on the link. I think the correct link should be: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HomeBrewersTeam/ Don't know if you can edit your own posts after this long or not. Regards, Dave |

Thanks for the congrats, Fred B and Brinktastee; I don't know why my wife has put up with me for so long.
And congrats to you, Brinktastee; once you've gone that long then it'll usually last forever.Davethebrewer, I think you're correct about Yahoo being case sensitive. V_R and Phicksus, it's good to hear from you again. Fred, the site looks good; I like the wording, and don't know what else you'd add (unless you've already added it since your post?? -- "Brewers Helping the World" -- I like that). As for the rest of your site, let me point out a couple of things that need your attention: On the Home page, in the sidebar "the Projects", your "read more" link doesn't go anywhere. The second page -- about the WCG -- is fine. The thrd page -- about our team -- has a link to our first team thread instead of our current one; I don't know whether that is what you intend. If you add a link to my webpage, please note that I have shortened the URL slightly to fit into my email signature better -- from http://home.alltel.net/billvelek/world-community-page.html to http://home.alltel.net/billvelek/wcg.html. I had previously used a tinyurl, but I've received feedback that some people don't trust tinyurl links because they don't know if they're headed for a porn site or whatever. So, I'm now using my own URL which includes my name. Since I have a number of posts floating around with the former, I still have that page but with a link to the new page. Do you happen to know the html code to make the site automatically jump to the new one? Thanks. Bill Velek |

Okay, HomeBrewers, here is something for you to think about while you are brewing ... or enjoying your brew. I just posted a really hard riddle in the WCG chat room. Give it a try and in a few days I'll post my answer -- which almost won a contest by Omni Magazine except that I think I was ripped off
